If you’ve been looking for a way to track your cycles and ovulation when you have PCOS or irregular cycles, then you’re in luck because I may have found a solution for you.
If you’re not familiar with my story, I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 2015 when I was trying to conceive my first baby. The telltale symptom for me was a complete lack of a period and a subsequent lack of ovulation. Through the help of my doctors and fertility medications, I was able to conceive and have since given birth to two babies.
But it wasn’t easy and I wish that I was aware of some of the tools available for tracking that I am today. Back then, I was a dedicated “pee on a sticker,” testing for ovulation or pregnancy nearly daily and it was maddening, to say the least.
I am so excited to share with you today my review of Ovusense, the most advanced cycle monitoring system available.
What is Ovusense?
It’s a fertility monitor like you’ve never seen before. It’s one that is worn internally while you sleep that takes your internal body temperature every 5 minutes and then records and tracks that data in an app in the morning.
It’s up to 99% accurate at predicting ovulation up to 24 hours in advance of the event - even when you have irregular cycles or PCOS!
How Does It Work?
This is one of the most simplified fertility tracking apps that I’ve seen. And trust me, I’ve checked out many throughout my years TTC. Here’s how OvuSense works:
Step 1
You insert the OvuSense sensor into your vagina before you go to bed and leave it in overnight. Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing! While in there, it will measure your core body temperate (CBT) every 5 minutes throughout the night. There are no radio waves or any other harmful frequencies being transmitted through your body - it’s completely safe to use!
Step 2
When you wake in the morning, you’ll remove and clean the sensor before downloading the data it collected to the OvuSense App. Your data will be uploaded to a secure cloud database to ensure that your information is safe.
Step 3
Using your unique cycle data, OvuSense will provide live updates and ovulation prediction up to 24 hours in advance for each cycle. This help you to time your intercourse to the exact date when ovulation should be occurring. This is crucial in your success in conceiving and it’s able to predict with 99% accuracy!
Innovative Cycle Tracking
One of the best things about OvuSense is that you can begin using is ASAP. Here’s what to expect:
Cycle 1:
You can start using the device as soon as you receive it and you can get started tracking by downloading the app and transferring your data from the sensor to it each morning. After a few days of this, the sensor can predict the onset of your ovulation without needing to wait until the next cycle and without relying on historic data which could be inaccurate anyway.
Three days after ovulation occurs, your sensor will confirm your exact ovulation date. After this, you can also continue to monitor your progesterone levels during your luteal phase (the time between ovulation and the start of your period) which can be extremely helpful in your TTC journey and your understanding of your body.
Cycle 2 and Beyond:
As you complete your first cycle and you get your period, discontinue using OvuSense during your period, starting back up again as soon as it ends. The sensor will then predict the exact 8 days that you are most likely to conceive on this cycle.
Then, as your cycle progresses, OvuSense will update it’s information thanks to the real-time monitoring and will replace your 8-day window with a shorter, 4-day ovulation window.
You can use the app to track all the real-time data and throughout your cycle so that you can see your patterns. You can even share that data with your partner and/or your doctor right through the app.
This device and app are completely different from any other ovulation tracking device I have tried or researched, and trust me, I’ve been down every rabbit hole there is in search of helpful ways to navigate PCOS and conception.

Frequently Asked Questions
Since this is such a new and different type of tracking device, I’m sure you have a lot of questions about it. I put together a list of questions that are commonly asked below, review the information so that you can decide if this tracker app is right for you and your journey.
You insert the sensor the same way you would a tampon. Hold the sensor where the tail is attached to the main body, aim it towards the small of your back, and push it upwards. Once it’s firmly in place, you shouldn’t feel anything at all. However, if you feel any pain or discomfort when you’re sitting or walking around, this can be a sign that it’s not far enough inside your vagina. If this is the case, simply insert a clean finger and gently push the device inside a little further. Don’t worry, it’s not going to get lost or stuck in there, there’s nowhere for it to go.
When it comes to intercourse, yes, you absolutely need to remove it before engaging. For bathroom trips, you don’t necessarily need to remove it, however, you may want to hold it in place by the tail if you choose to leave it in while using the restroom. The device is designed to detect temperatures that are not within your normal body temps and discard them, so the data collected while the sensor is out will not skew your data.
You should clean OvuSense after each use. It’s designed with materials that prevent the growth of bacteria. You can clean it with mild soap and water. Avoid using any sterilizing solutions, alcohol wipes, or sanitizing sprays and gels as they may damage the sensor.
No, you should not use your sensor when there is any kind of blood because it can affect your readings. It can also stain your sensor which would be a real bummer.
Yes, you can use this device while you’re undergoing fertility treatments like IUI or IVF. In fact, it can provide you with additional valuable data that both you and your doctor may find useful in the process. If you use an hCG trigger shot to induce ovulation, there have been several studies that have shown that OvuSense will still confirm ovulation, but it may be a day or two later than the day your doctor tells you that ovulation should take place.
There are a couple of different options you can choose from. You can get the starter pack which includes the sensor and 2 months of the app for $129 or you can get the starter pack and 12 months of the app for $299. Obviously, purchasing the yearly membership is going to get you the most bang for your buck, but you may choose to start with the 2-month subscription first, you can always add on more months after your initial 2 are up!
Who Should Use This?
This app and sensor are for any women that have irregular cycles and ovulation, which studies show is around 70% of us! Clinical studies have shown that up to 70% of women don’t ovulate smack dab in the middle of their cycle like we’re taught to believe in high school sex ed. In fact, even if you have a “normal” cycle, you may ovulate at different times each month.
Now, if you’re trying to get pregnant, it’s incredibly helpful to know when that egg is going to be released so that you can make sure there’s sperm available to meet it.
Thanks to the unique patented Coree Body Temperature measuring technology in OvuSense, you can track the rise and fall of progesterone throughout your cycle in real-time. This means that it’s the most accurate home-based ovulation tracker there is.
So, if you have PCOS, diminished ovarian reserve, irregular cycles, or think you may be ovulating on different days each cycle and you want to know your precise ovulation date so that you can conceive, this product is for you.

Should You Give it a Shot?
I think the biggest hesitation I’ve heard about trying this tracker is the fact that it needs to be inserted inside you. Yes, it sounds a little daunting, but trust me, when inserted properly, you shouldn't feel a thing. Just take a look at the many customer testimonials and you'll hear the same sentiment from all those ladies, too.
I know for me and many other women, we’d do almost anything to see those two pink lines, including sleeping with a monitor inside us (which isn’t that bad!). It’s pain-free and easy-to-use, so in my book, it’s a winner! It’s also clinically proven and over 99% accurate at predicting ovulation, which takes it over the top for me.
Infertility and trying to conceive can be tough. It can leave you feeling out of control, but there are things you can do to relinquish some of that control, including purchasing an ovulation tracking system like OvuSense.
