Key Similarities and Differences to Be Aware When Choosing Tempo or Forme Life

Ok, so here’s where we dig into both studios and find out how they differ so that you can begin to home in on which one is going to be the best investment for you.

Let’s start with the similarities. Both Tempo and Forme Life offer:

  • A large, HD screen for live and on-demand workout streaming.
  • Multiple workout modalities to choose from.
  • Form monitoring, feedback, and correction cues.
  • Live training.
  • Workout and progress tracking.
  • Customized workout recommendations.
  • A sleek, modern design that meshes well into any room in your home.

On to the differences:

  • Forme Life is a full-length mirror that appears to be nothing more than that when not activated. Tempo has a large display, but stands on an easel and is not a mirror.
  • Tempo is very strength-training focussed, including a full set of Olympic-grade weights with every studio. Forme Life’s Studio Lift allows for resistance training.
  • Forme Life’s programming is more focused on the mind & body connection than Tempo’s.
  • Tempo offers 3 packaged Bundle Options to choose from to customize your workout experience, and Forme Life offers two options (Studio vs. Studio Lift).
  • Forme Life is pricier when comparing the Studio Lift to any of Tempo's Bundles.
  • Forme Life offers additional packages for further workout customization (Sculpt Bundle, Bar Bundle, Have it All Bundle). Tempo recently released new Bundles of their own, which include more advanced strength training equipment like a bench and squat rack.

Crucial Factors to Consider When Deciding if Forme Life or Tempo Studio is Right For You

By now, it’s clear that both Tempo and Forme Life are amazing pieces of equipment that can add some serious value to your training regime and help you reach your goals. But you don’t need both systems, so it’s time to decide which one is the best fit for you.

I’m going to break down some of the most important things to consider when choosing which smart studio is worthy of your investment and give you my opinion on which option takes the cake in each category. We’re going to take a look at the following factors:

  • Price
  • Workouts
  • Presentation

Price

The first thing that’s likely to come up when choosing which smart gym to purchase is to analyze the price. When it comes to Forme Life and Tempo, both gyms are going to put a dent in your bank account - but both are well worth it!

In my opinion, you can’t put a price on your health and feeling good and both of these options will definitely help you improve your health and fitness. That said, there is a significant pricing difference between these two smart studios, so if budget is playing a role in your decision, then it’s important to understand the pricing differences.

Forme Life's Studio and Studio Lift Pricing

Forme Life offers two different packages, The Studio ($2495)  and The Studio Lift ($4495). Both options are eligible for their financing plan for qualified customers, which could potentially give you a monthly payment of about $70 for The Studio and $125 for The Studio Lift.

The Studio Lift features their innovative resistance arms that use AI to suggest the correct weight for a given exercise, even spotting you when you’re ready to take your weight to the next level. The digital weight system is innovative, safe, and a smart way to strength train as it uses technology and machine learning to understand your abilities and limits.

If you’re someone who’s into strength training and/or wants to get into strength training, I highly recommend going with The Studio Lift package as it provided unparalleled resistance training capabilities.

Tempo's Complete Home Gym Pricing

Tempo has 3 bundles to choose from. The Tempo Starter, the Tempo Plus and the Tempo Pro. Tempo's Starter bundle comes in at $2,495, the Plus costs $3,245 and the Pro is priced at $3,995. For more information check out the full review we linked to above. They, too, offer a payment plan for those who qualify. With the payment plan, the cost for your studio could be as low as $69 per month, with $0 down.

Tempo comes with everything you need for your workouts, which is so valuable. They do have some additional accessories you can purchase, like larger plates, but it’s not necessary unless you’re an advanced lifter.

The 3D sensors and AI technology count your reps for you, suggest your weights, and even correct your form so that you’re always getting a smart, efficient lift.

Workouts

Putting the price aside, the next thing that you should be considering is what types of workouts are available and which studio offers ones that are best aligned with your preferences, needs, and goals. Working out should be fun and a part of your day that you look forward to, so don’t underestimate the importance of this!

The great news is that both Forme Life and Tempo feature a ton of variety in their workouts and programming, so there’s a little something for everyone. However, you’ll still likely find yourself more drawn to one over the other.

Forme Life's Workouts

Forme Life offers a wide variety of workouts, really focusing on the connection between the mind and body. You’ll find everything from hard-core strength training sessions and HIIT classes to yoga and stretching.

I would say that these workouts are best for those who want a lot of variety and desire to work their body in a variety of methods. For those who want to focus on strength training, The Studio Lift is going to be your best option. Otherwise, if you get The Studio, you’ll need to bring your own weights to the workouts, which can be a pain, and an additional cost if you don’t already have some.

Tempo's Workouts

Similarly to Forme Life, Tempo has a great variety of workout styles and modalities to choose from, but they are definitely a strength-training based system first and foremost, as evidenced by the inclusion of Olympic-grade weights with every Tempo studio.

In addition to strength training classes ranging from beginner to advanced, there are also boxing classes, cardio, HIIT, core, mobility, and recovery classes, too. For those who want to lift physical weights and enjoy the process of getting stronger, Tempo is hands-down the best option when it comes to workouts.

Presentation

The last factor that I find to be critical in your decision between Tempo and Forme Life is the presentation of the machine. Considering the machine you choose will likely be placed somewhere in your home, it’s vital that you know what the requirements are, how much space it will take up, and what it’s going to look like inside your home.

Forme Life Presentation

Forme Life is a mirror, which means that when it’s not in use, it looks like a regular decorative mirror in your home. You have a couple of options when it comes to installation, you can either have it mounted to a studded wall in your home, or you can have it stand on a floor stand, which is great because who doesn’t like options!

Other than that, Forme Life is sleek, elegant, and masterfully designed by a renowned designer, so it’s safe to say that you’re not likely to complain about much when it comes to the appearance of this studio.

Tempo Studio Presentation

Tempo is also brilliantly sleek and equally stunning, but it’s not a mirror nor do you have the option to mount it on a wall. Its 42” HD touchscreen sits on a sophisticated easel and is positioned above the included cabinet which conveniently stores all of your weights for you in a discreet manner.

The back of the easel is where your barbell and dumbbells are houses when you’re not using them. Although Tempo Studio is 6 feet tall, it’s not overly intrusive, the Tempo team managed to design their studio to be sleek and compact without sacrificing on any features.

Lastly, Tempo offers two different color packages. You can choose between the light studio and the dark studio, which allows you to choose the color theme that best suits your taste and home’s aesthetics.

Crunch Time: Is the worthy investment Forme Life or Tempo?

I wish I could definitively tell you which smart fitness studio is best, but between these two, there really is no clear winner. Unfortunately, or fortunately, you’re going to have to take all of the information I gave you in this article into consideration and make up your own mind.

However, I will give you my personal opinion. Unless you’re new around here, then you already know that I own a Tempo Studio and absolutely love it. I chose Tempo because strength training is important to me and I wanted a piece of equipment that would help foster my growth and development around getting stronger.

So if you’re in the same boat as me, go for Tempo! You won’t be disappointed. And if you do, look for me on the leaderboard! I’d love to follow along with your journey.
