In this Review...

This review of First Day kids vitamins highlights my daughter's experience with a full 30-day supply. Overall, we rated it a 4.6/5, noting how easy these gummy vitamins are to take and how I really appreciate the quality of ingredients.

This is my First Day kids vitamins review, which I gave to my daughter for the full 30-day supply. But, before I get into all the deets, I have to set the stage…

My first daughter was so easy. She would eat anything we put in front of her, unlike my sister’s kids who would only eat chicken nuggets and macaroni. They didn’t both eat chicken nuggets and macaroni – my sister would make one bowl of macaroni for one kid and a plate of nuggs for the other. Every single dinner. Accompanied with a pint of ketchup. I watched this play out while my own daughter sat in her high chair munching on raw broccoli and hummus. Proud mom moment.

Imagine my horror when daughter #2 comes around and my impeccable method for getting a child to eat anything is flushed straight down the toilet, along with the green beans she tried to hide. The only hummus this kid has touched has been thrown on the floor with passion. I was humbled, to say the least.

Enter First Day and their lineup of multivitamins, specifically the Kids Daily Enrichment Multivitamin. Could this gummy soothe my ego and ease my conscience about raising a picky eater? Read on to discover our experience with First Day, including ingredients, value, and did she even enjoy the vitamins.

Mom’s Rating First Day Kids Vitamins

Overall Rating: 4.6/5

First Day Kids Vitamins taste great and are easy to take. While my daughter appreciated those two aspects, I appreciated the ingredient quality, health benefits and value for the money.

Taste: 5/5

First of all, interviewing an 11 year old about vitamins is like trying to wrangle cats. But she did not complain or spit it back out, which is a win for First Day. In her words, the vitamins are “good”, “a little sweet”, and “I liked it, Mom, can you please unlock the iPad now?” Without having tried the vitamins myself, I can tell you that if your kids enjoy gummy candy, they are likely to enjoy these vitamins and take them without fighting you.

Observed Health Benefits: 4/5

This child is very involved in extracurricular activities. We just finished a marathon of soccer tournaments and dance recitals, and for the summer we have moved on to swimming competitions and theatre rehearsals. Keeping her little body fueled with good nutrition is a serious concern for us. It has only been a few weeks since starting the multivitamin, and she has not slowed down.

Ingredient Quality: 4.5/5

I feel good about putting First Day vitamins into our daily routine. I’ve seen what artificial colors can do to a kid’s behavior (looking at you, Red Dye #40), and the fact that there is nothing artificial in these vitamins gives me an immense peace of mind.

Ease of Use: 5/5

We love the bright, attractive packaging on the First Day vitamins. The bright coloring is a great reminder for her to take them every day. The top twists off easily, and she can grab a couple gummies and shove them in her mouth on her way out the door.

Value for Money: 4.5/5

At about $1/day, I’m very happy with the extra boost of nutrients my daughter is getting. I can’t make her a fruit smoothie for less than $1, and she wouldn’t drink it anyway. For something she will actually consume, I have no complaints about the cost.

Our Experience With First Day Kids Vitamins

My youngest daughter and I got the package from First Day while I was at work. My older daughter was at home when it arrived and insisted that she bring it to me so we could open it together.

Important note: The shipping was a bit slower than other brands I buy from. It had an arrival between 3-10 days, and this order came in 7 days. That's pretty long shipping times and something you need to consider before buying.

The Packaging and Unboxing

The outer envelope is a white non-descript bubble package, and without the return address on the label, I wouldn’t have known what was inside. But when I opened the mailer and took the containers out, I heard a high-pitched “ooh” coming from the youngest child. She was obviously impressed with the bright bottle and the cute illustrations.

The bottle sits by the kitchen sink, out of the reach of our pets. She’s not quite tall enough to reach the sink, so we have to remind her to take her vitamins every day.

The Taste and Texture

My daughter really enjoys the taste and texture of the First Day Kids gummy vitamins. Here's a up close shot at what the gummies look like:

I love that we are instilling a habit and routine within her so that when she’s old enough, morning routines like this will become second nature. And the fact that this part of the routine is yummy should make it easy and pleasant.

The Noticeable Health Benefits

We really started seeing health benefits around the 3-week mark.

I’ve mentioned in a previous article that I believe the effects of a multivitamin should not be observable, that they should work in the background. But I see this child still so full of energy after breaking for summer, asking to go to swim practice at 7:30am, and I wonder if maybe that’s the wrong take.

I definitely believe that without proper nutrition, she would not be as eager to keep moving as much as she does, and First Day is providing her with those nutrients better than her diet.

The Quality of Ingredients Shines

I also noticed that the ingredient quality is very good. They aren’t loaded with sugar (although there is sugar content in them), no GMO ingredients, and they are gluten-free. This is important to me as I am watching this kid for signs of gluten allergy, and I wouldn’t want to make symptoms worse by giving her something she can’t digest properly.

Pros and Cons

What We Liked

  • No fighting. It’s so nice to hear an “ok” instead of a whiny “whyyyyyy” when I tell her to take her vitamins.
  • Nutritional support. I can’t replace my child’s diet completely. But this is an easy, direct way to give her what her growing body and brain needs.
  • Organic. I don’t want my baby’s body weighed down by potentially harmful ingredients hidden under layers of sugar and artificial flavors.
  • Subscription model. Because remembering to order anything on a schedule is a pain.

What We Didn't Like

  • Some people do not appreciate the subscription model, and First Day makes the one-time purchase less attractive than a subscription.
  • Sugar. 3 grams isn’t a lot of sugar in the grand scheme of things, but I wonder what the palatability would be like if all the sugar were removed.

Key Features

Nutritional Content

First Day Kids Daily Enrichment contains a complex blend of necessary vitamins and minerals from actual fruits and vegetables. And I personally love the amount of brain-boosting B12 they’ve packed into their single serving size. First Day is careful to include only what kids need without overdoing it.

Ingredient Quality

You’re not going to find thiamine mononitrate on their ingredient list. You will see things you can pronounce and easily recognize, like kale and blueberry. Although, you will find thiamine mononitrate on the nutritional panel (it’s Vitamin B1, in case you were wondering). You can’t get any truer form of a vitamin than that from a real food, and when I see Organic Spinach on that list, it makes me feel so good about my choice in vitamins.

Product Design

I know for a fact that my daughter hates swallowing pills or chewing tablets. The chalky texture activates her gag reflex. But she loves gummies, and she’s told me that they’re easier to bite and swallow than her favorite fruit snacks, which she has to chew and chew and chew. She also loves that it doesn’t get stuck on her teeth.

Value for Money

When purchased using their subscription program, First Day Kids comes in at just over $1 per 2-gummy serving. This is very comparable and competitive with similar brands of kids multivitamins that offer the same benefits.

Can I get a gummy multivitamin for cheap? Absolutely, but I will be getting all the stuff that comes with a cheaper product, including gelatin from processed pork by-products or tons of added sugar to cover up the taste of inferior ingredients.

I am very pleased with the affordability of the First Day vitamins, and the fact that they offer free shipping makes it even better.

Final Thoughts and Recommendation

I love the feeling of putting high quality nutrition in front of my daughter and her accepting it willingly. The past 11 years have been a struggle beyond what I thought I would have to deal with, given the easy going nature of my firstborn.

I keep hoping for a turning point where she will just eat the same nutritious food I serve the rest of my family, but I understand that day may be a while off. In the meantime, I’m thankful for tools and resources like the First Day Kids multivitamin to keep her moving and growing and developing into a healthy human.

Thousands of parents already trust First Day for their exceptional ingredients and supplemental nutrition, and I would be happy to recommend them to any parent struggling to get their kids to eat their veggies.

Additional Tips for Parents

Usage Tips: Place vitamins where children are likely to see them at the same time each day, like beside their toothbrush or by the kitchen sink – even in the pantry beside the cereal box.

Must have during the school year

I have three sets of twins and when my second set started school, I began struggling to keep everyone in the house healthy and making sure they got all the vitamins they needed.
After trying several types of vitamins, these are the ONLY vitamins my kids like.
Not only have they helped us all stay healthy, but we’ve also noticed they impact my son’s behavior at school- making him able to focus more.
We’re so grateful that we found these vitamins.

Kids not a fan of taste

We are still in our first month of taking the vitamins so have not noticed a change yet. Kids are not a fan of the taste. But if we notice changes in health we would keep purchasing.

No change

My four year old grandson is in the middle of the second month with these. He absolutely loves them and they are fresh and soft and stay that way until the last one. That being said, they have not done what's advertised. I have seen zero changes in mood, behavior, temperament, sleep or anything else listed. Kind of spendy for what it doesn't do.

Expensive

I would have liked to continue my suscription, my grandchildren love this vitamins. But they are expensive. I think the dose of vitamins is low. We know now that we need more quantities of several vitamins. I hope that now that you have earned a lot of money with this vitamins, you can lower the price 🙂
