As usual, once December hits, we begin thinking about New Year’s resolutions and what we can do to commit to an exercise routine in the new year. I get asked a lot by my clients, readers, and community members what my recommendations are for setting up for fitness success, and my answer always boils down to a couple of key considerations:

  • What can you commit to that you will actually stick with (sustainability)?
  • What tools, equipment, and memberships do you need to accomplish your goals?

It’s not a secret that I love my MYX II Bike. I have had a MYX Bike for well over a year now but recently got the upgraded version and I am even more impressed with what the MYX + Openfit team is offering - it’s literally an all-in-one fitness solution.

This got me thinking about how a smart fitness bike like the MYX II can be exactly what people of all fitness levels (the myx ii is great for beginners) and with all different goals can use to ride into the New Year with intention, purpose and excitement.

So, in this article, I’m going to give you my top 5 reasons why you should consider investing in a smart exercise bike to kick off your fitness journey in the New Year on the right foot.

Why Get A Smart Spin Bike To Start Your New Year?

Let's take a look at the top 5 reasons you should consider getting a smart spin (exercise) bike for the new year.

1. They’re compact and mobile.

I can’t tell you how many people want to workout from home, ditching their gym commute, but insist that they don’t have enough room to have any equipment. The truth is, very few of us are lucky enough to have a dedicated home gym area, which is why a smart exercise bike like the MYX II is perfect for small spaces.

Fitness bikes are compact and sleek, which means that they can not only fit inside your home in even the smallest of crevices, but they’ll look good doing so. Plus, with your spin bike constantly in sight, it’ll serve as a nice reminder to get after it.

2. It’s the perfect indoor cardio workout.

For most of the country, we’re ringing in the New Year each January in the midst of cold, snow, and poor weather conditions. Our ability to go outside and run, walk, etc. is severely limited.

Instead of throwing in the towel and telling yourself that you will re-committ to fitness in the spring, you could be spinning your way through the winter blue indoors on your fitness bike. Who cares what the temperature outside is when you’re burning it up indoors!

3. You have access to all kinds of fitness programming.

Of course, riding your bike everyday isn’t going to be a well-rounded fitness program, you need other elements to really optimize your health and wellbeing and reach your goals, whatever they may be.

Fitness bikes like MYX II have you covered with its extensive library of workouts that go far beyond cycling classes. You get access to strength training, HIIT, yoga, pilates, recovery, stretching, and so much more. Plus, you can begin a specified, goal-oriented program and take all of the guesswork out of what workouts you should be doing day-to-day, week-to-week. All you need to do is show up ready to work!

4. The attached screen makes the experience fun and immersive.

Gone are the days of cardio machines being boring. Today, smart fitness equipment like the MYX II Bike are equipped with an HD touchscreen that brings the studio experience right your living room. Sure, you can use your phone or other screen on some more rudimentary bikes, but if you haven’t tried a smart bike with an attached screen, I can tell you that the experience is far superior.

You get to feel as though you’re up close and personal with your instructor. And on of my favorite aspects of the MYX experience is that the classes are taught by trainers who use positive coaching techniques and make you feel like you’re one-on-one with them. It’s not as if you’re lost in a sea of other riders, you’re right there and they are speaking directly to you, always pushing you to be your best.

5. You’re unlikely to get bored.

Finally, purchasing a smart exercise bike is very unlikely to leave you feeling bored or burnt out if you make use of all the features and programming options available. Brands like MYX+Openfit are always adding new classes to the lineup, so you always have a ton of options to choose from.

Sure, spinning everyday might get old, but that’s why you have an entire library of classes across a variety of modalities to choose from. You aren’t meant to just get on your bike and ride every single day. A well-rounded fitness routine includes mixing it up with strength training, cardio, mobility, and stretching. All of this and more is available to you on the MYX+Openfit platform. And, you can rest assured that no mattwee what your fitness level, you’ll find training options that fit your ability and goals.

Final Thoughts: Should You Invest in a Smart Fitness Bike?

If you want to set your home up with a piece of equipment that will provide you with a comprehensive fitness solution, then a smart exercise bike like the MYX II is well worth the investment.

I am over the moon with my MYX bike and can’t recommend it enough. I really appreciate that they offer so much value all packed into one compact machine. Even if you don’t want spinning to be the focus of your workouts, you’ll find a ton of value in just having access to the screen and the programming.

I know plenty of people who only actually take cycling classes once or twice a week, but who show up every day, swivel their screen to face them on their mat, and get to work crushing strength training, HIIT, or mobility workouts, whatever is in alignment with their goals.

My top recommendation for thos who want to set themselves up for success this coming New Year is to invest in a piece of equipment or fitness membership that inspires them to show up for themselves and their goals all year long.
