It’s no secret that we’ve seen a big surge in the fitness industry over the last year. From innovative new technology that has everyone excited to jump in and try it out to some “come to Jesus” circumstances that have shown us the importance of good health, many more people are prioritizing their health and dedicating themselves to getting fit.
There is no shortage of ways to work towards these goals, and everyone has an opinion on what’s the best way to do it. In this article, I’m going to be talking about functional resistance bodyweight training, which sounds a lot more complicated than it is! Specifically, I’m going to be reviewing SoloStrength, a bodyweight home gym system that provides unlimited opportunities for performing a range of exercises. They are quickly becoming one of the best direct-to-consumer gym equipment brands in a fierce market!
We’ll talk about what this piece of equipment is, what it does, who it’s for, and finally, we’ll get to the bottom of the question we’re all thinking: “Is SoloStrength worth it?” Let’s find out!
What is Solo Strength?
SoloStrength is a Canadian fitness brand that specializes in supporting natural, bodyweight movements for sustainable long-term fitness. Its mission is to help individuals create and sustain a healthy lifestyle, regardless of their age or current fitness level.
The brand takes a very simplistic approach to fitness, opting to keep their equipment minimal. However, they still maintain the ability to deliver a training system that’s easy, safe, and highly effective.
For those who are looking to get in shape from home but don’t want to buy into all the bells and whistles that most home gyms have these days, you’ll find the SoloStrength home gym a breath of fresh air.

Solo Strength offers several home gym options, however, their Ultimate Freestanding Gym is their most popular product. With 39 adjustable height levels, you can benefit from an unlimited variety of full-body workouts that will help you achieve your fitness goals in rapid time.
I don’t know about you, but when I think of a home gym, the first thing that comes to mind is a large, bulky, obtrusive setup that needs its own room, which isn’t ideal or practical for most folks. Luckily, the SoloStrength freestanding gym isn’t like that. While it is a substantial piece of equipment, it’s not bulky and it doesn’t require a ton of square footage to host.
There are two size options to choose from, the standard size which accommodates a 94” ceiling, and a shorter version for ceilings that are 90”. If your ceilings are lower than that, this may not be a great fit for your home. Each SoloStrength gym can hold up to 300 pounds and is designed to cater to all fitness levels.
The Freestanding Gym is sleek in design but durable, ensuring your stability. In total, the gym weighs only 102 lbs., making it fairly easy to maneuver around should you need to.
The key feature of this line of fitness equipment is the adjustable height levels for the main bar. You can easily go from a low setting where you could use it to support your push-ups, to a higher setting for movements like chin-ups and pull-ups. It can even be used as a support for barre, yoga, and headstands!
More Home Strength Options
In addition to the SoloStrength Ultimate Freestanding Gym, the brand offers several other options to help you find one that suits your needs as well as your home’s.
Each Ultimate Gym comes with the main system, the main exercise bar, and the base, but you’re going to want to add on some accessories to get the most out of whichever gym you choose. For starters, the Ultimate Dip-Row Bar is a must-have for maximizing your workouts.
You can also choose to add on the following:
- Wide-Grip Pull-Up Bar
- Additional Main Bar (optional 2nd bar)
- Resistance Bands (light to extremely heavy)
- Freestanding Base (to be used with the doorway and wall mount systems)
- Fold Up Wall Mount Kit
- Rubber Mat Cover For Freestanding Base
- Bar Gloves
- Fitness Ball
