rating mud wtr mushroom coffee

Fit Healthy Momma Rating: 9.5/10

MUD WTR is a coffee alternative made from organic ingredients admired for their health and performance benefits. Containing just 1/7th the caffeine of coffee, MUD\WTR provides natural energy, focus, and immune support but without the jitters and crashes associated with regular coffee.

I’ll be the first person to admit that I love my morning coffee. It’s a cup of hot, steamy joy that I look forward to each and every morning.

But it wasn’t always like that. For me, coffee was an acquired taste, something that I really only started drinking once I had my first child (hello, lack of sleep). While I’ve grown to really appreciate my morning coffee, I’m also aware that caffeine consumption is a slippery slope and that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

As someone who is very passionate about health, fitness, and nutriton, my mind is always open to new concepts, ideas, and products that could potentially allow me to optimize my life.

I was recently introduced to the concept of mushroom coffee and was equally skeptical and intrigued about the idea of a healthier, more natural source of “coffee.”

MUD\WTR came highly recommended to me, so I grabbed myself a box and tried it. This article will outline everything I discovered after trying MUD\WTR. Plus, I’ll give you my honest opinion on whether or not this is a legit coffee alternative.

key ingredients mud wtr

MUD\WTR contains a mixture of proven ancient ingredients that have long been lauded for their health benefits. Let’s take a closer look at what some of those key ingredients are and what they do.

Masala Chai

Sourced from India and Sri Lanka, Masala Chai is made from a loose black leaf tea that contains powerful groups of polyphenols including epigallocatechin gallate, theaflavins, thearubigins, and amino acid L-theanine. All of which have been shown to provide protection against the onset of several chronic disorders.

Cacao

Grown in Peru, Cacao is packed with flavonoids, which are nutrients that have been shown to lower blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and heart, and aid in preventing blood clots. Additionally, cocoa has been linked to improved mood and a natural energy boost.

Lion’s Mane

Grown in California, this fungus (mushroom) has been linked to protecting against dementia, reducing mild symptoms of anxiety and depression, and helping to repair nerve damage. Lion’s Mane also helps to protect the lining of the stomach and improves focus.

Chaga Mushroom

Grown in California, Chaga is known to boost the immune system and reduce inflammation or swelling in the body.

Reishi Mushroom

Grown in California, Reishi has been linked to helping with Alzheimer's disease, cancer, diabetes, cold sores, and immune system optimization.

Cordyceps Mushroom

Grown in California, Cordyceps is most commonly used for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to provide natural energy.

Turmeric

Grown in India, this spice is full of antioxidants and has been used for centuries to lessen inflammation, improve memory, reduce pain, fight off free radicals, fight depression, and reduce your risk of heart disease.

Cinnamon

Grown in Sri Lanka, Cinnamon is full of antioxidants that are used to help lower blood sugar levels and to provide a sweet, aromatic taste and feel.

Sea Salt

Harvested in Pakistan, sea salt provides taste along with hydration and blood pressure benefits.

With an understanding of the key ingredients in MUD\WTR, the question becomes: what does it taste like?

What Does MUD\WTR Taste Like?

MUD\WTR tastes nothing like coffee. Instead, it’s a slightly sweet, slightly earthy mixture of chocolate and spice. Drinking a cup of MUD\WTR can be compared to drinking a cup of chai tea blended with hot chocolate.

The main ingredients that contribute to the taste of MUD\WTR are masala chai and cacao, explaining the sweet, slightly spicy taste combination that you get when you sip MUD\WTR.

FAQs

Below, I answer some questions that pop up frequently regarding MUD\WTR so you can get the most information possible to make an informed buying decision.

Final Thoughts: Is MUD\WTR Worth Making the Switch From Coffee?

legit coffee alternative mud wtr

I’ll be honest with you, while I truly enjoy that taste and feeling of drinking a steaming cup of MUD\WTR, I’m not ready to fully ditch my coffee habit. That said, I will 100% be swapping out my second cup of coffee for a MUD\WTR. Baby steps!

MUD\WTR is certainly a healthier alternative to coffee. While coffee is not inherently “bad,” the amount of caffeine and its propensity to cause reliance on it make consuming it a very slippery slope for many.

I am truly impressed with MUD\WTR and pleasantly surprised by the taste, texture, and overall vibe of this coffee alternative. After trying both Rise and Rest, I can confidently say that those who are on a mission to ditch their coffee habit and make the swap to something healthier and more sustainable will find MUD\WTR to be a very worthy option.
