The Story Behind the Brand

One of my favorite things about Kindred Bravely is that they are one of the most honest, committed, and down to earth brands I know. Don’t you just love buying things from a brand that you know sincerely cares about you and your wellbeing? I know I do.

Kindred Bravely began when Deeanne Akerson, co-founder/CEO was nursing her one-year-old and wasn’t able to find a comfortable yet cute pair of pajamas to make the whole experience a little better. So, she decided to create her own.

From her frustration in the lack of quality intimate options in the maternity and postpartum market and a simple idea, she created one of the best motherhood brands to date.

I, too, can relate to the struggle to find quality, cute maternity, and postpartum wear. For my first pregnancy especially, I remember being completely disappointed by the clothing options. The bras were hard to use and uncomfortable, the leggings were thin and ill-filling, and the underwear wasn’t functional at all.

All I have to say is thank goodness I found Kindred Bravely. During my first pregnancy, the only piece for this brand that I had was this nursing bra, and I’m embarrassed to say that I ended up wearing it almost every day. I was a new mom who was struggling through a difficult first time with breastfeeding who wanted to be comfortable and all my other bras weren’t doing that for me.

Underwear

Nursing Bras & Tanks

Ok, if you thought I was pushing hard for maternity underwear, be prepared because I’m about to advocate for the importance of good nursing bras and tops.

If you’re planning to nurse your baby, whether for one month or three years, it’s so important that you equip yourself with the right equipment and that includes nursing bras and tops.

If you’re embarking on your first nursing journey, there will be so much to navigate and learn. And each woman’s journey is unique. That said, one thing is for sure - you can make your journey a little easier by having quality, comfortable, and functional apparel.

I was first introduced to Kindred Bravely through the French Terry Racerback Nursing and Sleep Bra. This nursing bra is one of their best sellers and it’s easy to see why. 

This bra is so comfortable and functional that I actually wore it for more than just sleeping. I mean, most of us are just around the house resting, nursing, and changing diapers those first few weeks anyway, right?

The cups pull apart for super simple access, a must for those exhausting nighttime feedings. The fabric is so soft and dreamy, and there’s enough support to accommodate your ever-growing and changing breasts.

And that’s just one of their many amazing bras and tanks designed specifically with the nursing momma and her comfort in mind. This nursing sports bra was a godsend when I get back to working out and this nursing tank was my go-to under every single one of my tops throughout my breastfeeding journey.

Leggings & Activewear

As a fitness professional, I wear leggings and athletic wear almost exclusively. So it makes sense that when I became pregnant and my regular leggings got a bit too tight that I would seek maternity leggings. That was harder than I imagined, let me tell you.

Sure, there are plenty of options out there, but they were all so cheaply made that I could hardly leave the house in them. I mean, I don’t like my leggings to be see-through ever, but especially not when I’m pregnant - nothing to see here!

Then I got acquainted with the Louisa Maternity & Postpartum Support Leggings and my entire world changed. That may sound dramatic, but seriously, I was thrilled. Again, I didn’t have these for my first pregnancy, but I wore them to death for my second. In fact, I’m still hanging onto them now even though I’m 99% sure I won’t have another baby.

There’s so much to be said for having that favorite pair of pants that you can slip into and instantly feel put together, especially during a time when we usually feel anything but.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been much of a pajamas person. I always opted for an old pair of shorts and a comfortable t-shirt. Until, of course, I became pregnant and my tried and trues no longer fit. 

Let me tell you, I’ve never been so passionate about a pair of pajamas than I am the Davy Nursing & Maternity Pajamas from Kindred Bravely. These are literally the softest, most comfortable (and somehow flattering!) pair of pajamas I’ve ever owned.

These are designed to carry you through your pregnancy, postpartum time, and beyond. They’re high-waisted to accommodate your bump but also to prevent any irritation of your C-section scar. They make breastfeeding a breeze and the fabric is some kind of magic that keeps you cool when it’s warm and warm when it’s cool. After having both of my babies I went through a pretty serious stage of night sweats and these managed to keep me cool and sane.

They come in several color options and are so pretty and stylish that you can actually pass them off as daily wear, which you better believe I did. A set of these pajamas is the perfect baby shower gift to show momma that you care about her and her comfort.

100% YES. Sure, you could go on Amazon and grab some maternity wear for a few bucks cheaper, but I promise you it won’t even come close to the quality that you’ll get with Kindred Bravely.
