I cringe when I think of all the hours that I spent sitting in a salon chair, having my nails professionally manicured. Not only is it a timely process, but it costs a great deal of money to have this service done. Even though my nails always looked great when I would finish with an appointment at my favorite nail salon, I started to grow tired of the process. That’s when a friend of mine told me about the new nail dip kits that you can use in your own home.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be coordinated enough to do my nails on my own. I can put a quick coat of nail lacquer on if I’m going to be going out and need a quick glam up, but I didn’t know the first thing about dip powder nails. I was assured that it wouldn’t take long to learn the process, so I decided to give it a go.

I’m here to share with you my experience with Nailboo, which is a DIY dip powder kit. It’s really reasonably priced, and the process is really simple. I had picture perfect nails the very first time I applied the product, and it lasted me around six weeks before it needed to be redone. I also recently compared nail dip powders Nailboo vs Azure vs Revel, so if you wanted to see it stacked up against the rest, that's for you!

Summary Review of Nailboo Dip Kit

My overall assessment of Nailboo's nail dip kit set is that it is much higher quality than many other nail dip powder kits that I've tried. This is one of the reasons why they are priced a tad bit higher than the other brands. They have tons of colors to choose from, which is really nice. The other thing that I really like is that they include a remover set, so in case you didn't like the color after a few days you can change it up by removing and starting the process over again with a different color. One thing that I really enjoy is that my daughter loves watching me do my nails and it gives us something to do together.

About the Brand Nailboo

Nailboo was created with the simple vision of creating at-home nail kits that are salon-grade and easy to use. Each kit includes everything that you need. The creators of Nailboo were tired of having to spend money and time on professional nail appointments. They believed that they could provide a more practical option that was also cruelty free and vegan friendly. Thanks to Nailboo, you can access affordable and fast salon-like nails without having to leave the comfort of your home.

Overview of the Nailboo Dip Kit

You get amazing nails from Nailboo in just about five minutes. You get everything that a salon would have when you have your nails done. Their powder is designed to strengthen your nails rather than destroy them. They have an impressive color selection, and you’ll want to continue to build up your collection. All of the directions that you need to get started are included right on the Nailboo website. You also receive instructions with your order. It’s a simple step-by-step process that will leave you wondering why you ever bothered to have your nails done professionally.

What’s Included?

The Nailboo Dip Kit includes everything that you need to achieve professional-grade nails that will last for up to six weeks before they start to chip. Taking just minutes to apply, the starter kit come with one color, build powder dip, colored powder, four way file brush, removal clips and tool kit.

What I Like

While I love perfect nails, I never knew how to achieve them on my own. I was totally worried that I wouldn’t be able to pull off the Nailboo process myself. However, I was pleasantly surprised once I received my kit and opened it up. It’s actually really simple to get started. After I unpacked everything, I looked at the instructions on the company’s website. I was ready to get started in less than 10 minutes.

The first time that I did my nails using the Nailboo Dip Kit, it took me a little bit of time. That being said, I was taking my time so everything turned out nicely. I wanted to really learn the process so I could do everything right. Once I was done with my nails that first time, I became much faster at it. I can now do my nails in as little as five minutes.

What I Don’t Like

When you want to remove your nail dip, you have to utilize the Nailboo Easy Removal Kit. While it does a great job at getting everything off, it does take a little bit of time and soaking. Personally, I’ll invest that time if I know that my nails lasted me many weeks without having to be touched up or repainted.

Also, it’s important to note that the Easy Removal Kit from Nailboo is not included in the standard Nail Dip Kit that comes with one color. You have to upgrade your order to the Essential or Pro version to unlock the removal bonus. I’m not sure if that bonus is always offered, or if that’s a current promotion. If you’re confident that you’re going to like Nailboo, then it’s not a big deal to invest in four or six colors. It’s actually more affordable to just purchase everything up front.

What Could Be Improved

Nailboo definitely has a very large selection of colors on their palette, but I would love to see some more neutral shades featured. There are a lot of bold colors and glittery shades. While those are fun, there’s not always a need for such a bright color. Since this kit is designed to strengthen your nails, I would love to see more earth tones and natural shades that wouldn’t stand out so much.

Cost and Where to Buy

You can visit https://nailboo.com/products/dip-powder-kit to find out more about the Nailboo Dip Powder Kit. It currently retails for $68 for one shade, $98 (marked down from $130) for four shades, and you can obtain six hues for the discounted price of $140 (marked down from $190).

What Are the Customer Reviews Like?

There are more than 3,500 customer reviews listed on the Nailboo website. I had never heard of this brand before my friend told me about it, so I was shocked to see how many people have fallen in love with these products. A lot of people agree that there is a bit of a learning curve when you first receive your products. This was my experience as well, but rightfully so. I’ve never worked in a salon, and really didn’t know the first thing about doing a nail dip.

People love the amount of time that their manicure lasts when they use Nailboo. I had fun scrolling through the photos of people’s nails. It’s nice to see what certain colors look like in real life, and it’s so exciting that this many people were able to get salon-like nails on their own.

Does Nailboo Damage Your Nails?

There have been plenty of times that I’ve had my nails professionally done, only to find that those appointments left my nails brittle and unhealthy. Nailboo’s powder dip is designed to strengthen your nails. When you take your color off eventually, you should notice that your nails are still strong and healthy underneath. The more that you use your Nailboo kit, the stronger your nails will become.

How Long do Nailboo Nails Last?

Nailboo states that your manicure can last up to six weeks without chipping. Of course, your specific experience will vary. If your nails chip before the six week point, that’s not necessarily a reflection on the quality of this product. I know plenty of people who are really hard on their nails because they’re constantly doing dishes, cooking, cleaning and washing their hands. It’s inevitable that your manicure won’t last as long as somebody who is gentler on their hands.

Are There Any Alternative Nail Dip Kits?

Nail dip kits are becoming more and more popular. If you would like to look into some of the alternatives, here are some that are highly recommended.

Starter Nail Kit, Dipwell

Dipwell has a large selection of dip nail kits. I like this brand because they have a lot of natural options. You can even purchase their French manicure kit, which is such a classic and beautiful look. They break their products down into different styles, so you can choose the glitter, neon, natural or classic looks. They’re affordably priced, considering that you get multiple colors in one kit. Unfortunately, they only guarantee a chip-free manicure for up to two weeks, which is substantially less time than you get with Nailboo’s products. The product peels off after a soak of about 15 minutes, and it has a low-odor formulation that’s much healthier than salon products.

Nail Dip Kit Revel

The Revel Dip Powder Starter Kit is super affordable, and they provide you with everything that you need. This even includes their removal kit. Revel has over 200 different dip colors, and they have all kinds of products and accessories that you can add onto your order to create a true spa-like experience at home. If you’re new to the process of dip powder nails, Revel makes it simple to get started by taking out the guesswork of your manicure. Choose from crème, glitter, shimmer and popular shades. The removal is a little more challenging with Revel, so you’ll want to be careful as not to damage your nails over time. Their products are designed to last about three to five weeks before needing to remove the product and re-apply.

Olive and June

Olive and June is based off of three different essential products. This includes The Poppy, which is the brand’s universal polish bottle handle, CCT, a nourishing sheer gloss polish and The Top Coat, which locks in your manicure once you’re done. You can purchase the Olive and June Mani System if you want to obtain everything you need for at-home dip manicures. The company also sells their products individually so you can accumulate your own collection. A long-lasting proprietary formula keeps your manicure looking gorgeous for weeks at a day. Your nails are protected, allowing them to grow and remain healthy. I love this brand because they skip the 15 most toxic chemicals that are often found in nail products. Olive and June is also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

Verdict: Is Nailboo Actually Good?

After trying Nailboo out for myself, in addition to checking out some of the other at-home nail dip kits that are available on the internet, I would have to conclude that Nailboo is one of the best brands that are out there. They have included everything that you could possibly need in one starter kit. You don’t have to try to piece together different items, hoping that you understand the process.

Also, the directions that Nailboo provides with their kit are some of the best I’ve seen. You get everything on paper when you receive your order, but I also found it really convenient to have their website pulled up on my phone while I was doing my nails. I used their online resources to make sure that I was doing everything right.

Purchasing Nailboo has allowed me to do my own nails at home, while still achieving professional results. It’s saved me a ton of time not having to commute to and from the nail salon, but I have also saved a lot of money. I’m planning on continuing to use Nailboo for my at-home manicures. This has provided me a great method of self care when I want my nails to look their best.
