There's plenty of strong reasons why Tami, from Fit Healthy Momma penciled in a stellar 9.7 / 10 star rating on Moxie's fitness app, but make sure you read everything so you leave no stone unturned!

Fit Healthy Momma Rating: 9.7/10 ⭐

Moxie is a revolutionary fitness platform that’s providing users a simple, convenient way to workout on their own schedule and with instructors of their choosing. With a straightforward pricing structure, immense class variety, and cutting edge technology that encourages interaction and inclusivity, Moxie is one of the hottest up and coming workout marketplaces out there.

There is no shortage of ways to workout from home these days. From apps that connect you with your own personal trainer like Future Fit App to fitness equipment and platforms like MYX Fitness (MYX+Beachbody) that bring you a giant selection of classes, including cycling classes. If you want to work out from home, no matter what your style or preferences are, there’s an app for that.

I was recently introduced to and immediately knew that this brand’s take on at-home, on-demand fitness was one that was worth looking into. Moxie is taking a different approach to streaming workouts and the fitness professionals that deliver them. As a former personal trainer myself, I was immediately drawn to Moxie’s vision of providing a platform that allows trainers to attract new clients and host their classes without needing to have a huge following already.

In this complete review, I’m going to introduce you to Moxie and what it has to offer and then give you my answer to the question of whether or not it’s worth it. Let’s dive in!

What is

The fitness app screen shots

Here's some screen shots inside my moxie app.

Moxie is a leading virtual fitness platform, offering convenient workouts that enable users to workout from anywhere, any time, and with a variety of coaches, styles, and techniques. The platform features dozens of independent trainers, coaches, and instructors who lead their own classes, on their own schedules, and at their own prices.

Launched in 2020, Moxie was created to answer one of the biggest challenges caused by the pandemic: an inability to get to the gym and/or enjoy the same movement we once enjoyed.

The folks behind were software engineers, developing software for large companies. But, like so many other things that were cancelled in 2020, their contracts fell through. Instead of lying down and waiting for the storm to pass, the team put their heads together and decided to help solve a problem, and the problem they settled on was the lack of options when it came to online fitness and wellness activities.

Not only does Moxie address those who are looking for a fitness solution, but it also helps those who provide fitness outlets. For the countless trainers and fitness instructors who were used to earning a living teaching inside the gym or studio, they now found themselves faced with the obstacle of transitioning to online fitness or giving up on their passions. Creating your own online fitness business from scratch can be downright daunting and near impossible for many.

This is where Moxie comes in. Moxie, by the way, means “fighting spirit,” so when you think about it, it’s the perfect name for this company and for those that they serve. For those of us who have moxie, we don’t let a setback keep us from moving forward.

What Makes Moxie Unique?

moxie xyz's unique way to workout from home

It's like a marketplace, where you can pick and choose which class you want and only pay for that class.

Moxie is one of the simplest, most user-friendly fitness apps I have tried. There is a very low barrier to entry with Moxie, meaning you aren’t required to sign up for a membership, pay for classes, or even create an account before deciding to take a class.

Users can hop on the website and begin browsing available workouts and instructors immediately, filtering by things like experience level, equipment required, time of day, and more. The platform also shows you a list of classes you might be interested in as well as trending classes and instructors to give you a good place to start.

Qualified Instructors

Within the platform, you’re able to see a profile for each Moxie instructor which includes reviews, experience, certifications, specialties, and links to relevant social channels. I really love this feature because it’s worthwhile to get to know the instructors beforehand so that you can feel a connection with them and develop a level of trust prior to committing to one of their classes.

Interactive Workouts

Moxie includes two-way interaction between the instructor and the attendees of their classes. Each class has 15 interactive seats which are assigned on a first come first serve basis. If you get an interactive “seat” in the class, you’ll be able to not only see and interact with your instructor in real-time, but they’ll be able to do the same. It’s as close to being in the same room as you can get.

Unparalleled Inclusivity

Moxies does a phenomenal job of fostering diversity and inclusivity by opening up their platform to all kinds of independent coaches. They are not vetting and recruiting specific instructors who have a certain look or level of fitness expertise. Anyone and everyone with a passion for fitness is welcome to join and share it with the world. This model allows users to find coaches and instructors who they feel a real connection with.

Authentic, Real Content

Because Moxie does not hire trainers and provide them with a studio, you’re going to experience real trainers inside their own elements helping you to get fitter, stronger, and more confident. By showing up as themselves, they give you permission to show up as yourself in return. No fancy studios, overdone makeup, or perfectly captured camera angles.

What Kinds of Classes Does Offer?

live and on-demand workout classes by category

There is pretty much every type of workout available through moxie.

Moxie offers a wide variety of fitness classes thanks to the diversity and creativity of the instructors on the platform. Consequently, it’s near impossible to not find something that suits your mood, style, and fitness level.

Inside Moxie, you’ll find the following class types:

  • Yoga
  • Strength
  • HIIT
  • Pilates
  • Barre
  • Dance
  • Meditation
  • Flexibility
  • And more!

You’re always welcome to browse all available classes anytime within the Moxie app or on their website ( You do not need to make any payments or even create an account to have access to the class availability.

What to Expect From A Virtual Moxie Class

workout class description

Before actually signing up, you can read the description of the class. This shows you what type of equipment you need and what to expect.

If this is your first time attending a live, virtual class, you may be curious how exactly the process works and what to expect. Here’s a breakdown of Moxie’s process for each class:

Warm Up Room

Most classes will begin a little early (about 15 minutes before the scheduled start time) to allow the attendees and instructors to gather and interact with each other before the official start of class. During this time your microphone and camera will be on by default.

Once the class begins and you are inside the studio, your microphone will be muted automatically, but the instructor will be able to enable or disable attendees’ microphones based on their preferences for the class. If they choose to enable your microphone, you will have the option to unmute yourself and participate in the live conversation if you wish. As far as video goes, you will have the option to choose who will see you. You can choose to allow all attendees to see you, just the instructor, or no one - you get to make the experience as interactive as you feel comfortable with. There is also a chat box that can be utilized during class - all attendees will be able to see the messages in the chat box.

Cool Down Room

After the class is completed, you’ll be able to attend the cool down room where you can interact with the instructor and the other attendees if you wish. You’ll also be able to rate the class, which is super valuable for both Moxie and the class instructor.

How Much Does Moxie Cost?

The cost of each class on Moxie is determined by the individual instructor hosting the class. Moxie instructors have the freedom to charge what they wish for their classes. The average cost per class is around $10, but will vary depending on the length of the class.

One of the stand out features of Moxie is that they allow their instructors to create a loyal following by offering subscriptions. Users have the option to pay per class or subscribe monthly to a particular instructor that they enjoy and save some money in the process. This is an amazing feature not just for users, but for the instructors, too. With monthly memberships, these coaches are able to build a loyal following and gain consistent income, which can be tricky when navigating a noisy, saturated market.

Flex Pay Classes

You will also see classes that are designated as “Flex Pay.” These classes are donation-based and are free to book and attend. Once the class is over, attendees are encouraged to make a one-time, “flex payment” to the instructor to thank them for their work (minimum of $5). The coach will set a suggested amount, however, there is no obligation to pay anything for this type of class. You’re more than welcome to skip the payment section and just enjoy the class for free.

Wrapping Up: Is Worth Checking Out? is a virtual fitness platform that packs a ton of value into one inclusive, diverse place. The Moxie app allows you to take your fitness with you anywhere you go and the level of interaction between you, the instructor and the other attendees is cutting edge. Moxie classes are as close to real, in-person gfitness classes as you can get.

There’s a realness and authenticity to Moxie classes that’s difficult to find elsewhere. Additionally, Moxie gives users the ability to discover new and upcoming fitness professionals that they can connect and resonate with.

After trying out and reviewing Moxie for myself, I am thoroughly impressed with the platform, the level of features inside the app, and the brand itself. I can see things only improving and gaining momentum from here! Plus, with no monthly subscription obligations and the availability of flex pay classes, this app is 100% worth giving a try if you’re ready to find your fitness groove.
