Swaps or Alternatives

Greek yogurt– I used plain nonfat greek yogurt, but sour cream (light or regular) works too! With sour cream, you will have a creamy, rich taste without the tanginess of the greek yogurt.

Honey– You can use pancake syrup or maple syrup in place of honey if that is what you have in your pantry. Sugar-free variations will yield a lower-calorie sauce and slight maple taste!

BBQ sauce– This recipe uses the brand G Hughes, which helps keep the recipe low calorie. Feel free to use any brand or variation of BBQ sauce you would like. With unlimited options from hot and spicy to sweet honey or Carolina-style, you can’t go wrong!

Quick Tips

You truly can not mess up this simple sauce! If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a few drops of water to thin out the sauce. If you want to kick your condiment game up a notch, prepare this delicious sauce in advance. Store it away for those moments when you need an instant flavor boost from the fridge!

FAQs

What is the nutrition difference between this recipe to the original sauce?

The original sauce is 60 calories, 5g fat, 3g carbs, and 0g protein for 1 packet which is about 1 tablespoon (12g). This recipe allows you to have 2 tablespoons of sauce for 37 calories, 0g fat, 8.2g carbs, and 1.2g protein!

Why should I make this sauce?

Condiments are an essential part of any meal, but tend to sneak in excessive calories. Can I store this sauce?

Yes, for best quality, you can store this sauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week! Make sure to stir the sauce before each use to ensure everything is mixed well.
