If you’re a coffee lover, there’s nothing better than waking up in the morning and sipping on your favorite coffee drink while holding a nice warm (or cold) mug that makes you feel cozy and comfy - all to get ready for your busy, productive day.
Perhaps you’re just getting into coffee and you aren’t sure if it’s healthy or bad for you. There have been numerous studies on coffee and how it affects humans in different ways. For example, evidence from a study conducted by the American Institute for Cancer Research concluded that drinking coffee can reduce risk for endometrial and liver cancer, and it is not a risk for the cancers that were studied based on a systematic review of a large sample size of research.
If that’s not enough for you, in late June of 2018, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) proposed a new regulation under proposition 65 that cancer warnings are not required for coffee, stating that there is “inadequate evidence” that drinking coffee causes cancer.
It’s all about wellness these days, and we’re always encouraging our readers to live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives. JAVY coffee is one of those wellness brands that you want to look at from all the angles before making a committed decision that it’s right for you. This is especially true if you’ve had your morning routines down to a coffee-science and you’re really not sure if liquid concentrate can improve your overall optimization of effectiveness and deliciousness.
In this article, I’m going to be taking an objective look into JAVY coffee concentrate - to see if it’s safe to drink, does it still provide the caffeine I need?, cost, where to buy and much more.
What Is JAVY Coffee Concentrate?
JAVY coffee concentrate is a liquid form of flavored coffee that you can use to create any style of coffee that you want. The process of creating coffee with JAVY is very simple in that you only need to add 1-2 tsb of Microdose to enjoy your favorite drink. JAVY has a collection of cold brew recipes if you’re into cold coffee, and you can also make hot coffee.
With JAVY paving the way as a pioneer in the liquid coffee concentrate game, you may finally be able to ditch your bulky brewing equipment, messy grounds and disgusting instant coffees. In addition, this brand is helping people make coffee more efficiently, saving us time and money. But is it effective and does it come at a cost to our safety? As a Registered Dietician, that’s exactly what I’m going to cover in this review of JAVY coffee! Let’s take a look at the Pros and Cons for those in a bit of a morning rush.
What Are The Ingredients in JAVY?
Since coffee concentrates are comlex to make and the purest form of coffee, it’s no wonder why people want to know how exactly it is made. However, JAVY keeps things super simple as their coffee concentrate is made of just coffee and water - that’s it!
Cold Brew Recipes
JAVY has an amazing collection of cold brew recipes located on their website for you to follow along and create a delicious specialty drink. As a registered dietician, I always recommend putting something healthy in your cold brew, such as a protein. Increasing your protein intake has been researched and proven by PubMed to help prevent cardiovascular disease.
JAVY’s recipe blog has a filled with cold brew (ice coffee) recipes including:
- Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Pumpkin Spice-Up Cappuccino
- Fall Dalgona
- Coffee Chocolate Chip Blondies
- Vietnamese Coffee
- Coffee Breakfast Smoothie
- Cold Brew Overnight Protein Oatmeal
- Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte
- Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew
- Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino
- Caramel Oat Milk Latte
- Sparkly Vanilla Rose Americano With Rose CF.
- Brown Sugar May Marble
- Whipped Cream Coffee
- Iced Javy Mocha Frappuccino
Is Coffee Concentrate Safe?
There are no additives, sugars or harmful chemicals in JAVY coffee - Yes, JAVY coffee concentrate is safe. As noted above, the ingredients are just water and coffee, nothing else. That said, if you’re making a specialty drink, you’ll most likely add other ingredients to create it. Be sure to double check all ingredients in whatever you’re whipping together. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, the average American eats a whopping 20 teaspoons of sugar every day. If you fall into that category, try not to add too much of it to your JAVY coffee as too much sugar consumption can lead to obesity and heart disease. Personally, I like my coffee black and sometimes with a low-sugar pumpkin cream.
Cost and Where to Buy
JAVY has two different pricing models on their website, which I always recommend to buy from brands these days - go right to the source (you never know what you can be getting on Amazon - ie: knock-off brands, pre-owned, etc.)
#1: One Time Payment (at amazon or their website)
- Great for just trying it out. With this option, you can test the waters, see if you love it, then upgrade to the membership.
#2: JAVY CLUB (Membership subscription) (at amazon or their website)
- Great if you love it and want it delivered to your door every 30 days. With this membership, dollars will be saved, sips will be enjoyed and you can easily cancel anytime.
One Time Payment Pricing
1 Bottle of JAVY liquid microdose coffee costs $19.95. However, if you bundle, you save money. For example, you can purchase 2 Bottles for $37.90 ($18.95 per bottle), or 3 Bottles for $53.85 ($17.95 per bottle).
Here’s a table breakdown for visual learners out there (I know it would help me too):
$19.95/unit: Total $19.95
$18.95/unit: Total $37.90
$17.95/unit: Total $53.85
JAVY CLUB Membership Subscription Pricing
Up to 36% off, going with this membership is like joining a coffee club, but better. You’ll get coffee delivered to your door every 30 days and enjoy lower pricing privileges. You’ll also be notified first whenever JAVY comes out with a new recipe.
$17.95/unit: Total $17.95
$16.95/unit: Total $33.90
$15.95/unit: Total $47.85
Purchasing at Official Website Over Amazon
As mentioned earlier, you can purchase JAVY Coffee directly from their website - javycoffee.com. Everything is super secure, user friendly and their customer service is top-notch. If you find JAVY on Amazon, I would be very hesitant because you just never know what you’re going to get. At least if you purchase from the brand and you have an issue, you can take it up with the brand, and they should make it right.
Is JAVY Coffee better than traditional coffee?
If you’re someone who absolutely loves the process of brewing traditional coffee (and you’re good at it) you may be disappointed in Javy Coffee. On the other hand, if you’re someone who doesn’t like spending the time preparing hot coffee or iced coffee specialty drinks, then javy coffee is better than traditional coffee.
Where is JAVY Sourced?
Javy coffee is sourced from high quality, small reliable farmers so that they can maintain a consistent flavor profile. Javy only purchases from farms that produce high quality coffees.
Customer Reviews: Javy Coffee Users Tell It All!
On amazon alone, there are a whopping 7,601 global ratings with an average rating of 4.6/5 stars. Of the 7,601 ratings, 77% of those are 5 out of 5 star reviews. 11% are 4 out of 5 stars and 11% are 3 out of 5 stars or worse.
All the happy customers (real positive reviews) speak to javy coffee being exactly as advertised. For example, one person said, “First of all, it tastes great and second it’s not bitter. You can make it as strong or as weak as you like.”
I also read through all of the negative reviews of Javy Coffee and found that so many people were unhappy that the company did not send the free bottle as advertised. Most of these people bought Javy during a promotional period and it seems like Javy didn’t follow through on their promise of sending the free bottle that came with buying it. Most of these reviewers all note that the product is great, but the promise wasn’t fulfilled, which is why they gave it a 1-star rating (can’t blame them on that).
The good news is that Javy looks like they learned from their mistake and they aren’t offering a “free” bottle with your purchase. And, like I said earlier for wellness brands like these, always purchase through the company’s website, not amazon.
