Protein bars: they’re either really good or really bad. And up until about a year ago, I thought they were all really bad.
You know those bars that you bite into and have to choke your way through? They’re chalky, chewy (not in a good way), and taste nothing like the flavor they claim to be on the packaging. My experiences with protein bars caused me to avoid them for the longest time.
Then, I joined the world of Instagram and started opening my mind (and wallet) to some new brands that I had previously never heard of before. I mean, when you see so many people raving about a protein bar, it’s worth giving a shot, right?
Amongst the new brands I discovered was G2G (Good2Go). I saw several fitness influencers talking about them and decided to give them a go. And I am super glad that I did because these have quickly become one of my favorite bars of all time!
Today, I am super excited to bring you my complete review of G2G protein bars so that you can learn what the brand is all about and decide if you want to take the leap, too! I even scored a coupon code for my readers, more on that later.
Are Protein Bars Good For You?
Before I dive into reviewing Good2Go Bars, let’s first discuss whether or not protein bars are good for you. This can be a polarizing topic, but the truth is that it depends on what bar you’re consuming.
There are certain bars out there that are filled with so much sugar, junk, and artificial ingredients that they contain almost no health benefits except a small boost of protein. Basically, the juice is not worth the squeeze for many.
However, there are also some amazing D2C nutrition brands that are creating truly delicious AND nutritious protein bars that you can feel really good about eating, G2G is one of them. If that sounds interesting to you, go ahead and check out our top list of nutrition brands here.
Regardless of what your diet and lifestyle looks like, you should always choose products that make the most sense for you and your goals. I always recommend taking a look at the back of the label on any bar you’re considering and checking the following:
- Protein content
- Fat and carbs
- Ingredients (fillers, added sugars, artificial sweeteners & flavors, etc.)
- A good protein bar will have ample protein, usually 15 grams and up, low sugar and low fat, and will have a relatively low calorie count.
Protein bars can help you accomplish a variety of goals, from weight loss to weight gain, and everything in between. Many can even be used as meal replacements, especially the ones with higher protein content and calories.
What Are G2G Bars?
G2G Protein Bars are completely natural bars that contain zero refined sugar, are gluten-free, preservative-free, and are made entirely from organic ingredients. They are sweetened only with honey, brown rice syrup, and coconut crystals. The protein sources come from Whey isolate, peanut butter, almond butter, and oats.
The peanut and almond butter in the bars are freshly ground at their facility and the only ingredient is the nuts. The whey protein that they use is a rapid digesting protein that feeds your muscles and helps aid in muscle recovery.
The company was founded in 2011 by Casey Child and is headquartered in Orem, Utah.
What Are The Bars Like?
These bars are very different from your typical protein bar - they don’t taste like a protein bar at all! The closest thing I can compare these to are Perfect Bars. If you’ve ever had a Perfect Bar, you know that they are a totally different experience from a typical bar. They are refrigerated, soft, chewy, flavorful, and completely satisfying.
I liken G2G Bars to Perfect Bars, but find that they are way better in terms of ingredients, protein content, taste, and macros.
Biting into one of these bars is like biting into a no-bake cookie. The bars have the perfect blend of oats, nut butter, and chocolate chips or fruit (depending on which option you choose). They are dense, chewy, and altogether satisfying.
These bars are best kept in the refrigerator, so keep that in mind when ordering them. Each flavor comes in a box of 8 for $20.99, making each bar about $2.62. The price is on the higher side, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
What Flavors Are Available?
If you’re a coffee-lover, you’re going to adore this flavor. It’s the perfect combination of mocha (coffee beans) and almonds. Beware, this has a pretty intense coffee taste, so make sure you love it!
Coconut fans will love this one. Tropical coconut mixes together with smooth, creamy almond and a touch of sea salt to create the perfect combination of flavor.
Peanut Butter Fruit Nut
Cinnamon, vanilla, and plum raisins combine with peanut butter to give you the experience of eating fresh oatmeal raisin cookie.
Almond Fruit Nut
This one is like a bag of trail mix, but better! Dried fruit, almonds, and a hint of cinnamon and vanilla give you the experience of trail mix meeting a cookie.
Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip
Bananas, chocolate, peanut butter, and a hint of cinnamon combine to create a taste explosion that’s reminiscent of chocolate chip banana bread.
Peanut Butter Coconut Chocolate
If you’re skeptical about the combination of peanut butter and coconut, don’t be! They somehow perfect the formula to give a balanced, delicious taste.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip
This flavor is probably my personal favorite. It combines peanut butter and chocolate chips to give you the cookie/candy bar taste you love, without all the junk you don’t.
Almond Chocolate Chip
Creamy almond butter and velvety chocolate combine to create a satisfying taste like no other. The slight crunch from the almond bits gives this a hearty taste and texture.

My Review and Favorite Flavors
G2G Bars are my absolute favorite protein bars for so many reasons. I enjoy these nearly daily. At around 300 calories each, I tend to break mine up and eat them in portions throughout the day. For example, I might eat half a bar for a pre-workout snack and then eat the other half post-workout (with coffee, preferably!).
To me, they taste more like a treat than a protein bar, which makes them even more appetizing. And the macros are great. They contain around 300 calories per day, and have 18 grams of protein, 14 grams of fat, and 25 grams of carbs.
Yes, these are a denser option, but the calories and fat are well worth it, trust me! Especially when you factor in the fact that the ingredients are completely natural and that they are completely free of junk and fillers!
What Others Are Saying Online
It’s hard to just take one person’s word on a product, particularly when it comes to food because we all have different tastes, so here are a few customer reviews that I pulled together for further validation that these bars are legit.
