Fit Healthy Momma Rating: 9.8/10
If you have a busy lifestyle like the rest of us and you're looking for a personal trainer that will guide, motivate and coach you to reach your fitness goals, Future Fitness provides that solution. The brand values their customers and they are really good at what they do.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever joined a gym and/or hired a personal trainer with the absolute best of intentions to stick with a workout routine only to peter out and quit shortly thereafter.
We’ve all been there. Finding the time and gumption to drive to the gym and then actually figure out what to do that will be effective is easier said than done. Especially these days when it feels like we’re busier than ever.
So how do we combat this lack of motivation and therefore lack of results? Future Fit, a cutting-edge exercise and coaching app, might just have the answer we’re looking for.
I’ve reviewed several personal training apps, like Caliber Fitness, and smart home gyms like Tempo Studio and Forme Life, but Future takes things up a notch and provides some of the most valuable content and coaching out there right now, so, of course, I needed to test it out for myself and bring you my full review of Future.
In this review, I’ll take you through what Future Fit is, how it works, and I make it a point to help you decide whether or not it’s worth it for you. Let’s take a look at the data and see if this app is the real deal and a good choice for you.
What is Future Fitness?

With cutting edge technology, Future Fit is an innovative at-home fitness app that let's you tap into a personalized experience with expert coaching.
Future Fitness is an innovative coaching and training app rooted in the science of what motivates people to say on track with their fitness goals. With Future Fit, users are assigned their own elite personal trainer who not only creates personalized plans for you but who also holds you accountable for getting them done. The trainers check in with you daily, always giving you the tips, feedback and motivation you need to keep striving for your best. The constant accountability is the key to success. With back and forth messages, users feel energized and empowered to tackle their workouts and hit those exercise goals.
Aside from the coaching aspect, Future offers a unique combination of technology, content, and elite guidance to empower their members to get into shape and achieve their goals - whatever their fitness journey may look like. The best part is that Future works on your schedule, not the other way around. Whether you workout from home or the gym and whether you have access to equipment or not, they will create a plan that fits your situation and needs.
The technology portion is where the Future app really stands out and shines. Future pairs with Apple, all users are given an Apple Watch to deliver insights into your biometrics (data like heart rate) as well as provide the ability to deliver each member a hand-crafted protocol and chat directly with your coach. By leveraging this high level tech, Future is able to help users stay motivated and up their health and exercise level seamlessly. As they put it, they are “bringing human connection to digital personal training.”
How Does The Future Fitness App Work?

If you’re looking for an exercise plan that’s customized for you and includes personal guidance and accountability, Future App makes it so easy and hassle-free to get started. It took me about 10 minutes from start to finish to get going with the app, including choosing a coach and setting up a FaceTime call with her. Here’s what the process looked like for me:
Step One: Choose a coach
Getting started, Future will ask you a few questions to get the conversation flowing. Then, they’ll give you a short list of some relevant instructors that meet your needs. Of course, the brand understands that you may not find the right coach right off the bat, which is why they never lock you in. You can switch coaches any time during your membership.
When I completed this step, I was matched with 4 different coaches, all of whom sounded competent and had impressive resumes. I ended up choosing coach Emily because she had experience working with athletes and was big into the science of exercise and athletic optimization.
As soon as I selected my coach and completed my profile, I received a personal message (written and video) from Emily welcoming me to the app and telling me what to expect on the call. This was such a nice touch and one that made me feel so connected right off the bat!

Here's some screen shots that shows inside the app, and the welcome message I received from Coach Emily!
Step Two: Create a plan
Next, they will take you through a series of additional questions regarding your health and wellness goals as well as what equipment you have access to. From there, you’ll be asked to book a quick FaceTime chat with your coach where he or she will get to know you so that they can provide the most relevant information, support, and motivating words to you.
I signed up for the app on a Wednesday afternoon and booked a call with my trainer, Emily, for the next afternoon. I really liked that I didn’t need to wait as I was eager to get started from the second I decided this app would be worth trying out.
During the scheduled call,I got to know Emily just as much as she got to know me. She gave me some background on her experience and her methods and then asked me some questions about my current experience and fitness level, my fitness goals, and my equipment availability. I’ll admit that I wasn’t too keen on chatting over the phone, but once I did, I was immediately glad I did it. This FaceTime chat allowed me to get comfortable with Emily prior to beginning my experience with her and it also ensured that I was getting the best fitness plan and program for my needs. This level of personalization is a process that works!
Step Three: Get to work!
Once your coach creates your program and you know what exercises you have coming up each session, you can get to work when you want, as much as you want. All you need to do is follow the plan each week and your coach will be there with daily check ins to guide and encourage you along the way.
You can expect that your workouts will be loaded shortly after your call with your coach. Since I indicated that strength training was the foundation of my movement regime, Emily created a strength based plan for me that includes example videos to help teach proper form and technique. Beyond that, your coach will send you a personalized audio message before each workout which will include some workout-specific data, information and tips for success. This is a feature completely unique to this app and one that helps hold you accountable as well as safe during your workouts.
By the way, you can view your workouts on your phone, wristband, or even on your Apple TV or other smart streaming device. No matter where you choose to view your workout, you can expect to be guided through the whole protocol one exercise at a time. When you’re finished with one movement, the next exercise will pop up and be ready for you to perform.
Step Four: Track your data and get stronger
If you don’t already have one, the brand will send you an Apple Watch to use while working out . This technology allows you and your coach to track your progress and data, celebrate your accomplishments, and adjust your workouts so that they are working optimally for you. In addition to the wristband tracking, they also send a little welcome kit out to all their new members, which is a nice touch.
What’s Included With Your Membership? (Hint: An Apple Watch!)
With your Future subscription, you’ll receive direct access to a real live personal trainer who will personally build and design a workout plan that’s specifically tailored for you. Plus, you’ll have access to an intuitive app that makes communication between you and your coach seamless as well as tracking your weight, and other data a breeze.
Each and every week you can expect to be sent a new set of workouts based on your activity and feedback gathered from the week before. Plus, as I alluded to in the last section, they send their users an Apple Watch, if they don’t already own one, to be used for workout tracking. If opting in for this, you will only be required to pay a fully refundable deposit of $199 at checkout.
Do I Need an Apple Watch to Use Future?
Yes, all paid members will be required to use an Apple Watch as it’s the key that unlocks your coach’s ability to provide personalized advice, accountability, and recommendations to you. Because the tracking is such a key component of this application, they offer all users a free watch to be used while they are members.
Already own an Apple Watch?
Great! The application works with Series 3 and higher, so if you already have one of these, you’re all set!
Does The Future App Work With Android?
No, Future is currently only available for iPhone. There is talk of Android support in the near future though, so stay tuned!
Who Are The Future Coaches?
If you’re contemplating signing up for this program, you can feel great knowing that they only hire the best of the best when it comes to health and wellness professionals. In fact, over 80% of Future professionals have trained pro, college, or olympic athletes. Furthermore, over 95% of them have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field and the majority have their masters degree, too. When working with Future, you can rest assured that you’re dealing with industry professionals who know how to get results.
Everything You Need to Know About Future Workouts

From beginner to advanced workouts, and, most importantly, your goals - there's something for everyone.
Your workouts with this program will be designed to suit your preferences, abilities, and equipment availability. You’ll find that there is something for everyone inside the Future app, from yoga to strength regimes.
Throughout your planned workouts, you’ll be able to manually record your reps or make changes to the weights that are suggested for you (if need be). Additionally, you can pause the program at any time should you need to take a break, grab a drink, help a toddler, etc.
Once a workout is completed, the software will record all your stats for you, including metrics like calories burned and weights selected. All of this information will be stored so that you can effectively track your exercises , how many calories you burned, and more. But you aren’t going to be the only one tracking your progression, your coach will be with you every step of the way, too. He or she will be notified when you complete a workout so that they can see how you did and provide you with feedback.
What’s Digital Training With a Personal Trainer Look Like?
I hear this question a lot, and when I started working with a digital trainer, I had the same thoughts. We all know what it looks like to go to the gym and see fit professionals in person, but how does that translate outside of the gym?
Considering this application pairs each of its users with a real, certified professional who not only builds your exercises but is in constant contact with you, the transition to digital workouts is seamless. As a matter of fact, I find that many people prefer this method of working out as it allows them to focus more on their goals and less on making sure they are on site when it’s time to get to work. There’s a certain level of freedom that comes with being able to workout on your schedule and not work around the availability of your trainer.
One more thing that sticks out to me is that digital workouts offer the push you need to change your body and meet your goals but it does it in a way that allows you to mix things up to accommodate your calendar. This is why people love Future.
How Much Does Future Fit Cost?
Future costs $149 per month, which is less than the cost of a boutique gym membership or even a single in-person session with a private personal trainer. The only other cost associated is that of the watch deposit should you choose to get a one from Future. The cost of the refundable deposit is $199.

Is Future Fitness Good?
Yes, Future Fitness app is one of the best personal training platforms out there right now. Between the advanced technology and the intimate relationships built with the trainers, the Future Fit program is 100% worth trying out. Whether you’re new to working out, need a daily push to hold you accountable, or are looking to take things up to the next level, you can accomplish your goals with Future.
Final Thoughts: Is The Future App Worth It?
Without a doubt, the Future App is worth it for those who want a routine that motivates while also getting you the results you’re looking for. After about a month of working out with Future, I am thoroughly impressed with everything that this platform has to offer. From my coach who stays on top of everything for me, to the workouts that are customized to suit my specific needs and goals, this is by far the best movement apps I’ve tried to date (and I’ve tried quite a few!).
Future allows me to live life on my schedule and not adhere to that of a trainer or a fitness center. It also provides me with all the data I need to track my progress and enjoy the process unfolding. My body has already seen great changes by implementing strength movements like single leg deadlifts (the bane of my existence) and lower intensity workouts like yoga. Of course, I’ve also tuned into my nutrition and that has helped me start to see results, too. In fact, I’ve made it a point to talk to my coach about nutrition more often now that I have a solid workout routine in place.
If you’re looking for a way to get fit while enjoying some freedom and flexibility at the same time, then check out Future Fitness and do something great for your health. You can guarantee that your program will be tailored to you and that the exercises given will be hand selected by an expert. And because this application is science-backed, you can expect to see all the data you need to know exactly where you stand. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have a trainer around to give you a good kick in the pants every so often.
