If you’re someone who works out regularly or takes your sport or fitness seriously, then you already know that your nutrition plays a big role. In fact, there have been a number of studies that have shown that while there are a number of factors that contribute to success in sport, diet is one of the most influential factors.

I was already familiar with the Freshly brand, but these new tailored performance meals definitely caught my attention. So here’s my complete review of Freshly’s brand new meal line, Freshly Fit. Are these meals worth the investment? Let’s find out!

What is Freshly Fit?

FreshlyFit is a ready-to-eat meal delivery service that’s designed to propel you further in your workouts and your life. These meals are carb-conscious, packed with protein, and always boast powerful macros that help you eat cleaner and perform better.

Designed to be flavorful, flexible, and always fresh, FreshlyFit allows you to customize your meal plan based on your lifestyle preferences. The brand offers options that cater to popular diet plans like keto and paleo.

If you read my Freshly review, then you know that they offer good for you meals with a balanced nutritional profile, delivered right to your door on your schedule.

What’s on the menu?

Here’s the fun part...the food! FreshlyFit has a rotating menu that they frequently update and change so that you can discover a wide variety of different foods and recipes. 

You can view the current menu right on their site and when you click each option you’ll pull up the complete nutritional and ingredient list for that particular meal. For each meal, they’ll tell you what makes that meal special, what the ingredients are, and how many calories, carbs, fats, and proteins are inside. As someone who is taking a macro approach to nutrition, it is so helpful to have all this information laid out for you - there is no guessing, measuring, weighing, etc.!

Getting Started: Things to know before ordering

Meal delivery can sometimes be confusing and/or overwhelming, so here are a few things to know about FreshlyFit and how it works so that you can get the most out of your experience.

First, signing up and getting started is really easy and straightforward. All you have to do is create your account to get the process rolling.

Choose your meal plan

Once you’ve created your account you can then choose your meal plan (4, 6, 10, or 12 meals per week). You can always change your plan based on your schedule and unique weekly needs, you can even skip a week or cancel your subscription at any time. There are no long-term commitments or penalties!

Complete control

You have complete control over your plan and meals. This isn’t one of those delivery services that send you whatever they have that week and it’s too bad if you don’t like the dish. You can browse the menu and choose the meals that you like best.

Plan for the future

Your initial order is going to be your starting point for your future deliveries, but every week you can update your selections based on the current menu. However, if you don’t update your meals, FreshlyFit will swap out an existing dish for another one for you. They’ll send you weekly notifications and deadline reminders so that you can make sure you get what you want before your order ships. Since they deliver freshly prepared meals, it’s important that you make your selections 5-6 days in advance so that they can send you fresh, nutrient-dense meals each week.

Shipping the meals

Excitingly, FreshlyFit delivered to all states within the continental US! They do charge a shipping fee for every delivery to ensure that you receive your meals promptly to preserve their freshness.

As you are creating your account, you’ll be asked to enter your zip code. Based on your zip code, you’ll be given a list of available shipping days, which will depend on the carrier in your area that will be delivering your meals. You have the option to choose which day of the week works best for you.

How long do the meals last?

Since there are no preservatives in the meals, you can expect them to remain fresh for 4-5 days in your refrigerator. Each meal will also have a use-by date on the back of the nutrition label which will help ensure you’re consuming it at its freshest.

If you receive your meals and you’re unable to eat them before the use-by date, you can stick them in the freezer to preserve freshness!

Heating the meals up

With fully prepared meals, all that’s left for you to do is heat and eat. Each meal will have instructions for heating it in the microwave on the back label. In general, you can expect to heat them up for about 3 minutes. FreshlyFit recommends that your meals reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

The packaging is microwave safe, but not intended for the oven or stove, so be sure to transfer your meal to an appropriate dish if heating in another manner.
