It’s an online world these days and, personally, I’m here for it. From having delicious, nutritious meals delivered right to your door to getting an epic workout in, there’s so much that can be done without ever needing to leave your home.
I’ve been working out from home for years, mostly doing it on my own. I would cue up a workout video and follow along or go ahead and program a workout myself. In the past, if I wanted access to a personal trainer (other than myself), it meant I had to go to the gym, however, that’s not the case today.
There’s been a growing trend towards personalized at-home fitness, the growth of which was only accelerated when COVID shut down gyms and studios. Innovative brands, people, and institutions saw this situation as an opportunity to better serve their customers right from home. But what’s the best way to connect with an online personal trainer? How do you find one that you align with, that meets your needs, and is on board with your goals and preferred training style?
I was recently introduced to FlexIt Fitness and tried one of their virtual trainers myself, and I can’t wait to share my full FlexIt Fitness review and experience with you. It reminds me a lot of Future Fitness (see my Future Fitness review), a similar personal training app. Should you try virtual personal training with FlexIt Fitness? Is it worth it? Let’s answer those questions and more in the upcoming article.

What Is FlexIt Fitness?

Using FlexIt Fitness on the tablet! You can also use it on your laptop or sync to your computer.
FlexIt Fitness is a virtual training platform that connects you with a certified personal trainer from a recognized fitness program and/or gym for live 1-on-1 training sessions. With FlexIt, customers can browse through dozens of personal trainers, selecting a trainer that best fits their personality and needs.
Within the platform, you get access to some of the best trainers in the business right now, from top gyms and studios. This means that you could be living in the midwest, but still get the opportunity to work out with one of NYC’s finest fitness gurus, something that previously wasn’t an option. This platform reminds me of when I reviewed Caliber Fitness, which, to be honest, isn't as good as FlexIt for many reasons outlined in this review.
Why Choose Virtual Personal Training?

Working out from home requires two things for you to be successful (typically): you need to enjoy the type of exercise, and you need to be held accountable. If you dislike the exercise format or you’re only doing something because you think it’s beneficial, you won’t be able to make it a habit. Likewise, if you don’t have someone or something that’s there for accountability, you’ll likely let your excuses win (we all do this sometimes, no shame!).
This is where virtual personal training with the help of FlexIt Fitness comes into play. As a member, you get to choose which trainer you’d like to work out with as well as your preferred training style - there’s everything from strength training and HIIT to yoga and Barre available! And unlike pre-recorded workout content that’s not tailored at all to your unique needs, virtual training allows for customized workouts that are specifically targeted to help you meet your fitness goals.
Finding The Right Trainer
One thing that I love about FlexIt Fitness is that they make it so simple to browse through their available trainers and find one that works for you. Each trainer has a bio as well as a short introduction video that gives you a lot of insight into their training style and personality, as both are incredibly important when choosing the right personal trainer.

I chose a trainer from a well-known fitness club in the United States.
Aside from just scrolling through the list, you can filter your search by criteria like club affiliation, specialties, schedule, and more. These filtering options allow you to narrow down your search and select your trainer in the most efficient way possible.
All of the virtual personal trainers that you’ll find on the FlexIt Fitness app are from recognizable gyms and/or clubs. Some examples include Anytime Fitness, Solidcore, and Physique 57.

My Personal Experience With FlexIt

Although I am a certified personal trainer and am perfectly capable of programming my own workouts, I love trying out programs made by other trainers. We all have our unique style, education, personality, and specialty, which makes it so fun to try out what others have to offer. Honestly, I always learn so much when I train with another personal trainer, a lot of which makes me a better trainer!
The FlexIt Fitness team generously gave me access to a session for this review. I immediately logged in and got to work searching for the right trainer. Given that I have a very limited schedule, I knew I needed to first narrow down my search by trainer availability. I wanted someone who was available early in the morning as that is my typical workout time. To my delight, there were plenty of trainers available for the date and time I had in mind.
Next, I went ahead and read a little about a handful of the trainers and even watched their short intro videos. It’s funny how you can tell almost immediately if you’re going to connect with someone or not, don’t you agree? Anyway, I settled on a trainer from Physique 57 as I had been craving a nice challenging barre class that hit my muscles differently than my normal training routine.
As soon as I booked my session, I received an email from FlexIt connecting me directly to the trainer I selected, which allowed us to get to know each other before our session. I had booked my session on the day before, but it was simple to connect with my trainer and get set up on the call! Plus, it felt like I already knew here before getting started which took the intimidation out of it.
Filling Out My Fitness Profile
After I booked my session, I filled out my fitness profile in my dashboard. It asked questions like what my short and long-term goals are and what equipment I have access to. This information is helpful for the trainers who will review it before programming a session with you. FlexIt’s number one goal is to connect you with a trainer who can create a personalized workout for you, so filling out yours is very important for your success.

Additionally, you have the option to share with your trainers any progress inside your dashboard. You can share things like photos, weight, measurements, and other performance markers that you can aim to improve throughout your fitness journey. I was really impressed with this feature as it allows you to track your progress in so many more ways than just the scale (which isn’t always a true representation of progress!).
The session
My session began right on time after my trainer and I had a couple of minutes to discuss the workout that she had planned for me. I didn’t need any equipment for the workout as I wanted to focus on body weight only. So setting up and getting started was simple.
My trainer walked me through the whole workout professionally, helping to correct my form and give me proper cues throughout the entire session. She was positive, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. She did things at my pace and continued to encourage me throughout the whole session.
Is FlexIt Fitness Worth It?
If you’re looking for a way to receive personal training from home and you don’t want to break the bank doing so, FlexIt Fitness is going to be 100% worth it for you. I think that we all like the idea of the convenience that comes with working out from home, but we don’t always know where to start and heaven forbid we choose the wrong trainer and end up stuck with someone we don’t like or connect with.
This is why FlexIt Fitness is so worth it. You get the power to choose from dozens of different trainers, which means if you find someone you like, you can continue booking with them. Or, you can try out as many trainers as you want - the choice is yours! Plus, you’ll have access to training across a wide range of modalities, so you can book a session based on what type of workout you’re feeling that day. With FlexIt, you’re not locked into any one trainer or training type, feel free to mix it up!
The last thing that I feel makes FlexIt incredibly worthy is the fact that you have access to a dashboard that serves as a way to track your progress and share it with your trainers. The only way to measure your progress is to track it! FlexIt holds you accountable, which is crucial in your success and progression towards your goals.
The Verdict: Is FlexIt Fitness Legit?
FlexIt Fitness is an awesome way to get access to certified personal trainers who specialize in the type(s) of workouts that you prefer. There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to your health and wellness, so why even try?
After using FlexIt myself, it’s easy to see where the name was derived from - it’s flexible fitness that fits your schedule and preferences. And you’ll probably be flexing some new muscles once you hop on board 😉
Virtual training can be just as effective, or even more so than in-person training as long as you have the right trainer on your side and the proper tools to help you to schedule your sessions and track your progress. FlexIt Fitness offers all that and then some, all at a price that’s easy on the budget, making it one of the most worthwhile investments you can make this year.
Remember, fitness should be fun! Find what movement serves you, get matched with a trainer that you align with, and the rest will fall into place. Cheers to good health and flexible fitness!
