Anyone who knows me knows that I love working out. It’s been a passion of mine for years, even prompting me to get my certification in personal training, group fitness instruction, and pre and post-natal fitness.

Although I am not currently teaching classes and coaching clients, I am still adhering to my own workout regime, and it’s all done completely from home. I haven’t stepped foot in a gym in over four years. With two little ones at home, it’s just easier for me to sneak down to my basement for an early morning workout before I’m on mom duty for the day.

Since I workout exclusively from home, I’m always looking for new apps, programs, and platforms to mix things up. I came across Fiton App a couple of months ago while scrolling Instagram and decided to give it a try.

A completely free fitness app? I mean, how good could the content really be? After using this app for a couple of months, I’ve got the answer for you! Here is my complete review of Fiton App.

TL;DR: Is FitOn Worth It?

If you're hunting for a free workout app and you don't mind getting interrupted with ads, then FitOn is totally for you. The free version is solid. On the other hand, the paid version lacks what a lot of my favorite apps offer (overall just more value).

That said, if you're wanting a workout-from-home app that provides tremendous value, then you'll need to check out my favorite FitOn alternatives here to see which fitness app is better for you. If you don't want to go the subscription model route, then take a look at a new and revolutionary virtual fitness app called moxie (read my review of moxie.xyz and see for yourself).

Reviews of FitOn Fitness App: What Are Customers Saying Online About FitOn?

As reported by apps.apple.com, there are 122.8k ratings, with an average star rating of 4.9/5. 99% of the reviews are positive, with only a few negative reviews.

After reviewing the negative reviews, I found that the users who gave a rating of less than 5 did so because they felt duped by the 100% free claim. Some users feel that nutrition and fitness tracker tracking capabilities should be included in the free version. However, the company is very transparent and clear on their website and on the app about what’s included in the free version.

To sum it up, the vast majority of FitOn App users are blown away by this app and the value it provides to those looking for quality, effective home workouts. Most users agree that this is a much-needed app that saves them time and money.

For many women who are now taking their fitness routines to their homes, this company has allowed them to do so easily, affordably, and effectively. With a large variety of workouts to choose from, all at no cost, working out is both fun and manageable for women from all walks of life and situations.

What is FitOn App?

FitOn is marketed as a free fitness app for women. With a variety of streaming classes available that include yoga, pilates, barre, strength training, HIIT, cardio, and more, there is literally something for everyone and every fitness level.

All of the workouts can be done from home and require minimal equipment. In fact, many of the workouts don’t require any equipment, which is wonderful for those who haven’t been able to get their hands on fitness equipment lately.

So, Is FitOn App Actually Free? (Real Cost)

If you’re like me, when you see something advertised for free, your first thought is “ok, but what’s the catch?” Here’s what I found on the FitOn website:

“Yes, [the app is] actually free, there is no catch. We are NOT selling your data or using it to target you with ads."

At FitOn, we are dedicated to building a next generation health & fitness platform and we simply don’t want any barriers holding people back from being able to leverage the product and all the workouts from our amazing trainers to improve their health & happiness.”

That said, it’s important to note that the basic version of the app is free, however, they also offer an upgrade to FitOn Pro for a monthly fee. The pro version includes customized diet plans, recipes, integration with your fitness watch or wearable, streaming playlists, and more.

How Does It Work?

To get started, download the app from the app store and create a profile. You’ll then be walked through the setup process which will ask you a series of questions based on your fitness level, demographics, fitness preferences, and more.

If you’re someone who is just starting out on a fitness journey, you’re going to love the way they walk you through how to get set up and give you recommendations for programs. And if you’re a fitness pro, looking to bolster your routine and try something new, you’re going to find a ton of value here, too.

You’ll have the option of creating a designated plan to follow or to just pick and choose which videos you like and watch them on demand. The flexibility is awesome!

What Kinds of Workouts Do They Offer?

There are so many workouts to choose from! I love variety, so this app is right up my alley. Here’s a peek at what types of workouts you can expect to see on Fiton:

No Equipment

  • Yoga
  • Stretch
  • HIIT
  • Strength
  • Cardio
  • Toning
  • Pilates
  • Quick Hits
  • Dance
  • Barre
  • Celebrity
  • Kinrgy
  • Before Bed
  • At Work
  • Beginner
  • Low Impact
  • Circuits
  • Home Gym
  • Small Space
  • With Kids
  • Prenatal
  • Postnatal

As you can see, there’s literally something for everyone here, regardless of your fitness level, ability, and preferences. Personally, I love strength classes, toning, HIIT, Pilates, and cardio best.

I also love workouts that I can do with my kids, so I often check out the With Kids section to put on a video that my four-year-old and I can easily do together. And as a certified pre and post-natal fitness instructor, I am thrilled to see the prenatal and postnatal sections.

If you're looking for a more "scaled back" workout app, then checkout MyCurves On Demand for a low intensity workout.

Benefits & Features

I’m going to preface this section by saying that I think that although FitOn’s website is beautiful, simple, and easy to navigate, it just doesn’t fully describe how great this platform is! There are so many wonderful features that you wouldn’t know about until you sign up and start using the app for yourself.

Selection

There’s a giant selection of workouts and most of them are conducted by celebrity trainers that you probably know and love.

Personalized

You get personalized workouts plans that are custom-tailored to your specific needs and unique goals.

Community

The community aspect is amazing! You have the option to work out on your own or invite your friends to do it along with you in real-time - this is something that I have not seen before! There’s also the fact that when you’re working out, you can see the dozens of others who are working out with you in real-time.

Live Tracking

Once you finish a workout, you get to see where you ranked among the thousands of others who have taken that same class. You’ll also see your time spent working out, calories burned, and average heart rate. Additionally, it immediately brings up your phone’s camera to take a post-workout selfie to share. As I said, the community aspect is next level!

Scheduling

You can set reminders for classes that you want to take live and you can favorite classes that you loved. You can also download a class so that you can take it on the go and not worry about wasting cellular data to stream it.

Choose What's Right For You

You can choose workouts based on how much time you want to spend, what trainers are your favorite, and how intensely you want to workout.

Streaming Compatibility

You can stream from your laptop, tablet, phone, or TV.

Unlimited Free Access

This bears mentioning again - you get unlimited access to the app for FREE. Seriously.

What Equipment Do You Need?

Not much! In fact, you can easily get away with not having any equipment aside from a yoga mat or comfortable flooring. There are tons of bodyweight only workouts that don’t require you to have anything other than yourself.

For the strength workouts, you may want to have a couple of pairs of dumbbells. At a minimum, I recommend a light set and a medium set. For women who are a beginner to intermediate, I suggest a pair of 5’s and a pair of 10’s. Of course, the more options you have, the more you’re able to advance and challenge yourself, but it’s not necessary.

Trending Gym Equipment: AtivaFit Adjustable Dumbbells review

Can’t get your hands on weights due to the COVID-19 pandemic? You’re not alone! Soup cans, water jugs, washing machine detergent, etc. can all be used in place of weights. Get creative and you’ll still get a great workout!

My Analysis and Experience

I downloaded the Fiton App about two months ago and have been using it consistently ever since. I absolutely love it!

There is so much variety that I never feel bored at all and I love that the workouts aren’t too long. The sweet spot for me is somewhere between the 30-45 minute mark. Most of the videos on this app are between 10-30 mins, so I sometimes do two 20-minute workouts and it’s absolutely perfect.

I love that I can involve my friends and family. My mom and I live in different states, but sometimes we workout together on the app. What a cool experience! That’s nothing we’ve ever done before but it helps us feel like we’re together even when we’re not.

The trainers are all amazing. You’ll probably recognize most, if not all of them if you’ve been in the online fitness space for awhile. You’ll see Casey Ho from Blogalotes, Katie Dunlop from Love Sweat Fitness, Elise Joan from Beachbody, and Gabrielle Union, to name a few.

Can You Really Get A Good Workout in From Home?

I know that there are so many people out there that are dealing with the shutdown of their gym due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it can feel frustrating and can even cause you to stop your fitness journey.

But as someone who has worked out from home with limited time and equipment for the better part of the last 5 years and is in the best shape of my life, I can tell you that you can 100% get in a great workout AND see amazing results from working out at home.

Should I Spring For FitOn Pro? Is Premium Worth It?

Maybe! It depends on your fitness goals and your budget. You always have complete access to the full library of free workouts, but when you purchase the Pro plan, you also get the following:

Premium Music: Take your workout to the next level with music stations that are packed with your favorite, motivating music that’ll keep you going even when things get tough.

Personalized Meal Plans: If your nutrition could use some help, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of FitOn’s personalized nutrition plan that allows you to eat the foods you love without feeling restricted, hungry, or stressed over calorie counts.

Recipes: There are over 500+ healthy recipes and meal ideas to help you make and consume food that you enjoy while adhering to your nutrition plan.

Unlimited Offline Downloads: Whether you’re going off the grid or your wi-fi goes out, you can take your FitOn workouts anywhere you want with unlimited downloads saved in the app.

Real-Time Heart Rate Monitoring: Connect your favorite workout tracker to your app and get your heart rate information in real-time so that you can improve your performance and compete with others on the community leaderboard.

How Much Does FitOn Pro Cost?

Currently, the Pro version of the app costs just $29.99 yearly, which comes out to $2.49 per month, which is a steal when you consider how much you would spend on other apps or on a nutrition program.

Wrapping Up

FitOn App is an app that I believe will only continue to gain popularity. It’s ahead of its time as far as functionally and workouts are concerned.

To me, this feels like an absolute no-brainer. You can always get the workouts for free, so why not try them out? And then for less than $20 per month you can get your nutrition on point and enjoy all the benefits of the full app.

My Recommendation (Real Talk)

I’ve tried many other home workout apps and platforms and the only other one that comes close to this one is Obe Fitness. I adore their platform, too. Their workouts aren’t free, but you can get a 7-day free trial and then 50% off your first month using my discount code TAMI50.
