Streaming workouts are all the rage right now. And for good reason. When I wrote this article, it was in the middle of the pandemic, which propelled online fitness programs like these into a wild frenzy as gyms were shut down and your only option was to either sit at home and wait for life to resume or jump on the home workout bandwagon.

For me personally, I’ve been doing home workouts for years, ditching my gym membership when my first son was born. As a stay-at-home mom, it’s hard enough to find time to work out, let alone drive to and from the gym.

I’ve been a Beachbody On Demand fan for years, discovering it shortly after my son was born in early 2016. Since then, I’ve tried many different programs and have tried several other streaming workout applications, too.

In addition, Beachbody is offering so much more with their new BODi merger. If you haven't heard by now, they teamed up with an exercise bike brand to deliver complete home exercise workouts. Recently, I tired Daily Burn, a streaming workout program that gives users a ton of variety, opinions, and new content. For the purposes of this article, I am comparing Beachbody Vs. Daily Burn - who wins my vote as the best home workout service? Let’s break it down.

Beachbody VS Daily Burn: A Quick Look At Each Program

If you haven’t tried either of these programs yet, here’s a rundown of what they are and how they’re used:

Beachbody On Demand

Beachbody On Demand (BOD) is a streaming workout platform that allows you access to all of Beachbody’s most popular programs (21 Day Fix, Insanity, P90X, etc.) When I began my journey with BOD, I started with the original 21 Day Fix program created by celebrity trainer, Autumn Calabrese. I’ve also done Hammer & Chisel, 80 Day Obsession, Morning Meltdown 100, Transform: 20, and more.

You can stream the app from any device including your smart TV, phone, and tablet. All you need is the app installed to get started. They offer a free 14-day trial and then the cost is $39.95 per quarter after that.

The app also gives you sneak-peek access to new workout plans, meal plans, recipes, and their online community. Additionally, you get 10% off all in-app purchases in the Beachbody shop with your membership. Their famous smoothie, Shakeology, is available for purchase, too. I find the app to be very easy to use. They continue to update it, too!

What I Love:

  • Access to dedicated programs taught by high-caliber instructors who are known for effectiveness
  • Easy to use app
  • Workouts are fun and easy to follow
  • There’s plenty of variety of programs to choose from
  • You can join in on the community aspect to feel a connection with other team BOD members
  • Affordable

What I Don’t Love:

  • Some programs have workouts that are too long (60 minutes each)
  • Some programs require a ton of equipment which can be hard to obtain for a home gym


Daily Burn is a streaming workout platform that offers tons of different ways to move your body. You can choose a video from their 1000’s of workouts on demand or choose to join a program that will walk you through which workouts to do each day. When you sign up, it’ll ask you for some information about you, your goals, and the types of workouts you enjoy. This will then lead them to bring you suggested workout options.

They have a new workout posted every single day at 9 am EST, which is great for those who enjoy fresh content. Although, the workout of the day varies and can be non-conducive for those who have specific, targeted goals. They cover just about every type of workout there is, including strength training, cardio, HIIT, running, yoga, pilates, and even pre and post-natal fitness. The Daily Burn cost is $14.95 per month, however, your first 30-days is completely free.

I have tried a workout from almost all of their categories now. I personally love their HIIT workouts, pilates, and strength, particularly the core workouts. I find myself queuing up a core workout on demand quite often from this app. Similar to Beachbody, the app is available to stream from any device.

What I Love:

  • Tons of variety
  • There’s a new workout every single day
  • You can choose a la carte workouts or participate in a program
  • Access to their Facebook community
  • Affordable
  • Workouts are manageable at 30-40 minutes, on average, each

What I Don’t Love:

  • I don’t connect with a few of the instructors
  • Some workouts are too easy

Meal Plans

If you’re looking for a dedicated meal plan to go along with your workout, then you may be more inclined to choose BOD. Each of their workout programs has its own meal plan and prep kit. The Ultimate Portion fix is by far the most popular meal planning program and it’s very easy to follow and see results with.

Daily Burn focusses more on the exercise component to a healthy lifestyle. So, if you’re someone like me who just needs some new workout ideas and a little guidance, but usually skip the diet portion, this is for you. That said, you can still find a ton of information regarding nutrition on their website.

The Final Verdict: WHO WINS?

It’s honestly tough to choose between these two programs as I use them both. When I want to commit to a program and stick with it, I usually lean towards Beachbody. In fact, I just completed one their latest programs, 6 Weeks of the Work. And holy cow, that was one of the toughest, most rewarding programs I have ever done. If you're advanced, definitely check this one out, you're going to love it!

I love Daily Burn because I can pull up a video whenever I feel like it and I chose exactly what I feel like doing. So let’s say I’m feeling like sweating my butt off, I’ll pick a HIIT workout for the day. Or, maybe my body is sore and I need to rest, I’ll choose yoga. I love the freedom of choice it gives me. But Beachbody allows for the same, to be honest.

All in all, both programs are fantastic, in my opinion. I would say that Beachbody is ideal for those who are just getting into fitness or weight loss and they need the accountability and support of a dedicated program. Daily Burn’s workouts are shorter, generally anywhere from 20-40 minutes, and are perfect for those who want to choose our workout of the day on a whim and get in and out quickly.
