73.6% of adults in the US age 20 and over are overweight or obese. If this number doesn’t drop your jaw, I’m not sure what will. Well over half of our country is struggling with their weight. And, yes, I say struggling because, despite the health at every size movement, I still believe that being overweight is not only harmful to our health but damaging in many other ways, too.
There are so many factors that play a role in our weight, our body size, and composition, and the relative ease or battle we must face losing weight. From genetics and upbringing to our environment and lifestyle, our weight is a complex puzzle that can baffle even the sharpest of tacks.
So what do you do when you’ve tried all the things? You’ve checked every diet off the list, tried every workout, and read all the books and online information, but you always end up back in the same boat. If this sounds familiar and you’re truly ready to get off the hamster wheel and finally commit to the kind of life-changing results that you yearn for, Calibrate weight loss may be your answer.
In this article, I’m introducing you to Calibrate, a scientifically-based, year-long metabolic reset program that’s designed to help you lose the weight safely and sustainably so that you can finally enjoy weight loss results that last.
What Is Calibrate?
Calibrate is a virtual weight loss program that’s designed to help you lose weight sustainably and for the long term. This program is designed for those who have not found the results they desire from diet and exercise alone.

For those having trouble losing weight from diet and exercise, joincalibrate.com could be your new weight loss solution.
Using biology, the joincalibrate.com team sets you up with a year-long metabolic reset that encourages a healthy weight loss. In fact, their promise is very conservative, with a goal of losing 10 percent of your body weight in six months. If you’re doing the math, that means that you have six months remaining to then create the lifestyle changes you need to keep the weight off for good.
Calibrate recognizes that weight loss isn’t as simple as the industry makes it out to be. There are so many factors at play that just aren’t considered in most traditional diet and/or exercise programs. Join Calibrate is where those who have exhausted their efforts and are spinning their wheels can turn to.
The major premise of Calibrate’s system is their metabolic reset. This means that Calibrate focuses on your body’s metabolic system when it comes to weight loss. Your metabolic system includes the following:
- Metabolism (no surprise there)
- Hormones
- Cells
- Molecular messengers
Sounds scientific, right? Well, that’s because it is. Calibrate’s one-year virtual weight loss system builds on proven systems and the latest scientific research and then adds in prescription medication, one-on-one MD visits, and personalized coaching.
Wait, What Exactly is a Metabolic Reset?
According to the experts at Calibrate, a metabolic reset is a whole-body reset that stages every part of your body to have a healthier response to food, sleep, exercise, and even emotional triggers. It’s all about having control over your entire body, not just your metabolism. Taking control of your entire metabolic system will allow you to finally take control of your weight.
Calibrate explains that your body wants to keep you at its “set point,” which is the place where it’s currently at. Your body wants to maintain its current weight because that’s where it’s most comfortable. Unfortunately, this means that the second you lose weight, you’re likely to gain it all back (and then some) because your body desperately wants to go back to its homeostatic state.
This is where Calibrate comes in. Their method is programmed to actually change your body’s set point so that you can not only lose weight but successfully keep it off for the long term. All of this information is based strictly on medical research and the latest in scientific findings, which is reassuring for those of us who have grown weary of ineffective weight loss ploys.
Who is Calibrate For?
First and foremost, Calibrate is NOT for everyone. This program is not for those who are:
- Pregnant
- Breastfeeding
- Dealing with a substance abuse issue
- Battling an eating disorder
- Diagnosed with cancer
- History with pancreatitis or medullary thyroid cancer
Calibrate IS for adults between the ages of 18-64 who have a BMI (body mass index) of 30 or higher (or have a metabolic condition and have a BMI of 27 or higher). Also, you must live in one of the following states to participate:
Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin
If you do not see your state listed here, rest assured that the joincalibrate.com team is working hard to expand nationwide and will be in your area soon.

What’s the “Calibrate Year” and How Does It Work?
Calibrate’s signature offering is a year-long program that’s designed to work in your life. Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect from your journey with Calibrate:
Initial video visit
This is your first chance to meet with your Calibrate doctor and review your lab work as well as cover any medical questions that you have about your program. This initial call will be around 30 minutes.
Months 3, 6, and 12
Every few months, you’ll be checking in with your Calibrate medical team so that they can order new lab work and correspond with you directly regarding how you’re feeling and what progress you’re making. In between those visits, you can rest assured that you’ll still have access to your medical team via their messaging app, phone call, or even a video call. You’re not in this alone!
Bi-weekly video check-ins
In addition to your medical team, you’ll also be assigned an accountability and coaching team who will check in with you virtually every two weeks to make sure that you have the support you need to stay on track. These virtual calls are usually around 15 minutes long and there will be 26 of them throughout your Calibrate year. Part of this support and accountability includes classes, recipes, an individualized curriculum developed by an expert clinical advisory board, and an expert clinical counsel to help ensure you’re meeting your goals.

This is what you can expect from month 0-12. It's very extensive and well planned.
Why does it need to take a whole year to complete?
Calibrate’s programming has been very specifically designed to get you the best results possible, and the truth of the matter is that there is no quick fix for sustainable weight loss. Just like you didn’t gain the weight in a week or a month, you’re certainly not going to lose it and keep it off in that short period either.
The goal of the program in the first six months is to help you lose 10% of your body weight. At around the six-month mark, most people start to see a decline in their progress (which often leads to giving up!), but this is the most critical time to buckle down and continue with the plan, supporting the metabolic changes that are still happening under the surface. Even if you feel like you’re at a stand-still, the magic is still happening - trust the process!
By staying focused and adhering to the year-long plan, your body will have the best shot at reaching its new set weight. Your body can take up to a year to stop resisting your new lower body weight and to make the shift to its new set point.
By the time you get to the second half of your Calibrate year, you will be focussing on reinforcing the healthy metabolic changes that you made through each of the initial pillars. This dedication and consistency will help you change your biology, settling into the new set point that will ensure you maintain your weight loss and continue to make progress for years to come.
What Prescription Medications Do They Use to Help Lose Weight?
Currently, Calibrate’s annual programs include FDA-approved prescription medications that are clinically tested, stimulant-free, and non-habit forming. Calibrate uses GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide-1s) which address biology in a way that enables you to safely and effectively lower your set point.
I want to preface this question by stating that I am not usually a fan of medication for weight loss as I think it can easily be misinterpreted as there being a magic pill that could help you get in the best shape of your life. If that were true, we wouldn’t be facing such a large obesity crisis in the country today.
That said, there is some medical research that shows that a combination of coaching plus medication is more effective for weight loss than either on their own. When you initially join Calibrate, you’ll be led through a comprehensive health assessment that includes extensive blood work. The results of your health assessment will be carefully analyzed to verify your clinical appropriateness for the program as well as to customize your treatment and get you the best results.
How Much Does Calibrate Weight Loss Program Cost?
The Calibrate weight loss program costs $138 per month ($34.50 per week) or $1,649 per year if you’re signing up for the one-year metabolic reset (their signature program). Customers also have the option to do a one-time metabolic health assessment only for the cost of $249.
During the one-time assessment with a Calibrate doctor, they will order labs and assess your current metabolic health, reviewing the results with you just as they do for those who sign up for the one-year reset. If you decide to move forward with the one-year program, you can apply the $249 you paid for the one-time assessment to the cost of upgrading to the one-year program.
For those who choose the one-year metabolic reset program, you’ll be sent a free welcome kit with the tools you’ll need for the journey. These tools include a smart scale, blood pressure cuff, and an interactive app that helps you track and maintain your progress.
An important side note is that Calibrate is partnered with Affirm to offer financing and payment options that allow you to pay for your program over time in smaller monthly installments.

To get started with the Assessment, it costs $249. Then, you can decide if you want to enroll in the one-year Calibrate program for $135 per month (or $31 per week), or, a one-time payment of $1,620.
And, for those looking to knock off a few bucks, Calibrate has generously offered our readers $50 off the 1-year plan. To redeem that, use code FITHEALTHY50 at checkout !
Is It Covered By Insurance?
No, Calibrate does not take insurance to cover the membership cost, however, they will work with your insurance for coverage of your labs and prescription medications. They cap the cost of your medication to $25 per month after any applicable deductible.
Furthermore, you can use your HSA or FSA to pay for your membership to the One-Year Metabolic Reset when you choose the “billed once” option of $1,649.

At the moment, they don't accept insurance. But, they can work with your insurance company for specific meds.
Can It Help With Your Emotional Health?
While I'll cover the main differences between Calibrate and other programs in the next section, the one thing that separates Calibrate from the rest is how much emphasis they place on emotional health. As you get deeper into their one-year program, you'll find that their four pillars are food, sleep, exercise and emotional health. You'll get to learn your emotional triggers and acquire the ability to control them - all in an effort to lose weight, shed extra pounds and improve your overall health through their metabolic system and customized plan.
Comparison to Alternatives
Calibrate is not the only weight loss plan out there there’s an abundance of them. This is both a good and a bad thing. For one, we have ample options to choose from. But on the other hand, the supply of options and conflicting information can quickly become confusing and overwhelming.
Calibrate vs Noom
Noom has quickly become one of the most popular weight loss apps out there, but how does it match up to Calibrate? There are some fundamental differences between these two weight loss programs, starting with the fact that Noom is an app that uses a psychology-based approach to help create life-changing results (helping you lose weight). Calibrate, in contrast to Noom, uses coaching and prescription medication to achieve similar results. Noom is a cheaper, less commitment-heavy option and Calibrate is more of a financial and personal commitment, which leads to higher success rates.
Calibrate vs Form Health
Form Health is similar to Calibrate in that both weight loss companies use medical professionals to coach you through a personalized program and offer FDA-approved weight loss medications to those who qualify. Form Health offers a monthly weight loss program that includes doctor visits that can be billed through your insurance (you will still be responsible for the $99/month program fee). Read my form health weight loss review to garner more information and details on the program.
Form includes access to a Health doctor and Registered Dietitian to create a personalized weight loss path that includes nutrition, physical activity and behavior changes along with FDA-approved weight loss medications. Calibrate is a year-long commitment program and Form Health is ongoing until you discontinue the membership.
Calibrate vs Found
When comparing Calibrate to Found, it’s easy to see how similar both of these weight loss plans are. However, there are a few nuances that separate them from one another. For starters, Calibrate’s signature program is centered around a metabolic reset, whereas Found focuses a little less on metabolism and more on other individual factors like genetics, hormones, and gut health.
Both Found and Calibrate use a similar approach to weight loss which includes the use of personalized coaching, advice from real Doctors, and prescription medications to those who qualify. Because these two programs are so alike, I highly recommend reading our full review of both to get a better idea of which one will be the best fit for you.

Calibrate Weight Loss Reviews on Reddit and Other Verified Sources
Since Calibrate's program is relatively new, it's not easy to find a massive amount of verified customer reviews, that's why many of us turn to reviews on reddit (which is an incredibly reliable resource TBH).
After searching through reddit reviews, there is one thread that shows a positive experience with Calibrate, and that post encourages others to share their thoughts as well.
On the Calibrate app, there's an average of 4.7 stars out of 5, with many reviewers verifying that they did indeed lose weight and verified these claims with before and after photos.
One customer provided a very unique review after using the Calibrate app and completed the one year virtual program, and documented her weight loss journey, saying, "not only does Calibrate encourage weight loss, their professional team prescription medication can feel like a medical solution for those who want to lose weight or shed a few pounds."

The Bottom Line: Does Calibrate Work?
Weight loss is a tricky, intricate subject that’s multifaceted. For some people, a simple cleanup of the diet and the addition of an exercise routine can dramatically change their bodies. Of course, you can’t just change your body, you need to change your habits and lifestyle, too. This is where the big hangup comes into play.
It seems that most of us can commit to a healthier lifestyle for a 30-day challenge, but once it’s over, the wheels come right back off. Why is that? Because we didn’t change our habits, we simply put them on the back burner for a time and then came right back to them when the time was up. If this sounds like you and you feel as though you’ve been on the hamster wheel for what seems like forever, then you may need some professional help that dives far deeper into the psychology of a healthier lifestyle and sustainable weight loss.
Calibrate for weight loss can be a very appropriate weight loss plan for many individuals who are overweight and tired of spinning their wheels, trying to accomplish results on their own. By not only handing you the tools for weight loss but by holding your hand throughout the process, you’re far more likely to succeed and get the results you so desperately want for the long term.
The one-year weight loss program takes things slowly and sustainably. While we may want to achieve results as fast as possible, slow, steady, and scientifically-based methods like the ones used in Calibrate are what’s going to win the race. Yes, Calibrate can create long-term weight loss success in those who have a BMI over 30.
