Back when I was trying to conceive and was first diagnosed with PCOS, I felt so lost and confused. I knew that I had hormonal issues and that I wasn’t ovulating regularly, if at all, but I had no idea how to figure it all out.

I was seeing my OBGYN who was prescribing me medications and doing a blood draw every once and a while, but I was mostly on my own, left wondering what was going on in my body.

Today, there are so many amazing fertility tracking tools out there that I am literally blown away. Research and technology have advanced so much even over just the last few years. This blog post is all about finding the best ovulation tracker so that you can have a little more information, control, and peace of mind throughout your journey.

I’m breaking down 5 of the best fertility tracking devices on the market right now. I hope that one of the below options feels right for you and you have the opportunity to take back some of the control you deserve on your journey to motherhood.

This ovulation tracker app is one of my favorites and one that I have tried personally and really love. This tracking system allows you to see your hormones and how they change throughout your cycle so that you can pinpoint ovulation and never miss your fertile window again. This app is perfect for those with PCOS or irregular periods as it tracks all month long.

This system works by using an ovulation test wand and then sticking it into the palm-sized Mira tracking device which then sends data to an integrated app on your smart phone. It’s so simple to use and provides amazingly accurate data. I love that this eliminates the need to test every single day throughout your cycle because we all know how pricey that can get!

  • Easy to use device and app
  • Very accurate data that gets tracked throughout your whole cycle not just when you think you may be ovulating
  • Personalized ovulation prediction based on your changing hormone levels
  • The device is small and discreet
  • It’s great for those who have PCOS
  • Saves you money and time by not requiring you to test every day
  • The app lets you know exactly which days to test on

  • It doesn’t track any other hormones, but they are working on releasing the Mira Plus Fertility which tracks estrogen in addition to LH! It’s available for preorder now and will be available soon.

#4: Daysy

Daysy is another new technology that recently hit the ovulation tracking scene. If you’re familiar with tracking your basal body temperature, then this concept is going to feel familiar to you, only much easier! Daysy works by tracking your temperature taken immediately upon waking and then entering in whether or not you’re currently menstruating. The device then tracks and manages your temperatures and data to tell you when exactly you’ll be ovulating. It’s a much more reliable and convenient than trying to track this yourself (if you’ve tried this, then you know what I’m talking about!).

This device connects with the DaysyView app which is a free app that you can download in the app store on Apple or Google devices that integrates with this system to display your stats and give you a clear read of your body temperature trends. Each day when you take your temperature by sticking the probe under your tongue, you’ll get a reading that will tell you if you’re fertile or not. It may even be able to indicate pregnancy.

  • It’s small and portable
  • There’s no need to collect urine
  • It’s extremely accurate at predicting your fertile window
  • It takes less than a minute to complete each morning

  • It doesn’t feel as digitally advanced as the other options, the device display only shows you a display light to indicate whether you’re fertile or not

#5: OvuSense

a picture of the first cycle information on the app ovusense

OvuSense is a patented fertility tracking app that’s designed to give you precise information regarding your cycle and ovulation patterns. This device involves a vaginal sensor that is to be placed inside your vagina while you sleep. Once inside, it safely takes your internal body temperature every 5 minutes. When you wake, you remove the sensor and clean it before uploading the data it captured to the app.

With the data it tracks, it can detect your ovulation date up 24-hours in advance. The best part is that this device is perfect for irregular cycles or PCOS because it tracks based on each individual cycle, not an average which makes it super precise and effective for those with irregular ovulation. It also helps track any medication you may be using in conjunction with your fertility protocol (Clomid, Letrozole, ect.).

  • You get an 8-day fertile window
  • It can alert you 24-hours in advance of ovulation
  • It’s over 99% effective at detecting ovulation
  • It’s one of the best trackers for PCOS
  • There’s a 100% money back guarantee if you don’t successfully detect ovulation within 90 days of using the system
  • The app is easy to use and provides clear data and information
  • It works well with fertility medication tracking

  • The sensor needs to be inserted into your vagina and kept in while you sleep

Why Use An Ovulation Tracker App?

Ok, so now that you’ve seen my top four options, why use one of them? No matter where you are on your fertility journey, I believe the knowledge is your best friend. Even if you don’t struggle with infertility, there’s still so much that needs to happen right in order to conceive.

If you’re trying for a baby but have no idea when your fertile window is or your cycle is inconsistent, it’ll probably take you longer to conceive. For some people, this is perfectly fine. All in good timing, right? But for others, time is of the essence, and the more you understand your cycle and when you’re ovulating, the higher your chances will be that you conceive because you’ll be able to time your intercourse.

For me personally, I operate better when I have some kind of control. I couldn’t control that I had PCOS, but I could control how I responded to it. On top of monitoring by my doctor throughout fertility treatments and protocols, I liked to keep track of my ovulation to make sure it was happening when it was supposed to.

Using an ovulation tracker app is so much easier, precise, and more convenient than trying to track the old fashion way with ovulation tests, a basal thermometer, and good old pen and paper. It can also end up saving you money as years of ovulation tests can get pricey quite quickly!

If you do go the traditional ovulation test route, I recommend these ones from Premom. You can get a box of 100 tests for less than $20. And there’s an app that you can use to track your ovulation by snapping a pic of your daily test strip! I personally used these test strips and found them to be very effective.

Deciding Which Tracker is Best For You

The ovulation tracking method that you use will be dependent on your needs and personal preferences. If you like “peeing on a stick” and testing your urine, then you’ll love the Mira tracker. If you want the most in-depth reading, the OvaCue fertility monitor tracks through two different methods.

In my opinion, it comes down to what you think you’ll be the most consistent with and what will be the easiest and most convenient option for you. I think that all four options that I listed are great (hence why they made the list!). I did a ton of research both while I was TTC and now in order to put this article together for you.

There’s no right or wrong answer. And if you end up purchasing a product and you decide it’s not for you or it doesn’t work for some reason, you can always send it back. I also recommend talking to your doctor to see if he or she recommends one unit over the other based on your situation and needs.

Ask yourself which one will promote a more relaxed and in-control feeling while you’re on your journey.
