Swaps or Alternatives
- Use lite coconut milk or vanilla almond milk for a low-fat version of this recipe! The fat content of this recipe can be somewhat misleading because avocados are a great source of monounsaturated (healthy) fats!
- Skip the banana if you don’t like it, or don’t have it!
- Use maple syrup instead of honey if you prefer the flavor of maple, or don’t have honey on hand.
- Vanilla protein powder works, too! It will balance out the flavor and taste a bit less chocolatey, but will still be delicious. You can also try peanut butter-chocolate protein powder–peanut butter goes well with chocolate and banana!
Quick Tip(s)
- If you have an immersion blender, it will work well for this recipe! Mix ingredients in a cup with a hand blender so that you don’t have to clean your large blender when in a rush
- Plan when you are going to make this recipe so that you can purchase your avocados accordingly. If you plan to make in within 1-2 days of purchasing, make sure to choose very ripe avocados (they will be darker in color and soft but not mushy to the touch). If you plan to wait more than 3 days, plan to buy firmer avocados that have a greener skin.
